Really sorry for bringing up such an old thread but I'm currently in the same predicament.
Did the OP have any luck with the RE11's 245/45/16 ?
Currently I've got the oem 225/50/16 and when I'm in boost its spinning in 1st and 2nd above 7,000rpm
I can't afford new wheels, just tyres for now

Tire make/model is way way more important than 225/50-16 vs. 245/45-16. What tires are you running now, and how old are they?

I think you will have problems finding R11's in 245/45-16 today, and if you do find some be sure to chack the date code on the tires. If you can fit 245/50-16 then that will give you a choice of tires. The 245/50-16 tires are around 7/10" taller than the 225/50-16 tires.

sidewall flex?
Hello all!
Its been a while that I posted here but I recently upgraded my tires and I am also looking for help.
I just had to put new tires on my car since one had a puncture and in general they were old (7 years?), unevenly worn, all seasons, and harsh.
After going through threads here i decided on...
front: 225/50/r16
rear: 245/50/r16
Toyo Proxes T1R
These tires are sticky, but before the change my ride felt very direct and responsive. Now with the new tires the steering wheels less on point, a little lagging even.
The ride quality is great, the car was so rough prior to the new tires and it is now much more sticky.
But since this is a S2000 it should feel great in the turns, and it doesnt do this right now. I am wondering whether it is because i went too wide, in the front especially. tires are a bit bulgy.
I spoke with tirerack representative where i bought the tires and they stated that a) its going to take 500 miles to break in b) the new tires should feel better and more responsive.
Personally i think maybe because of the extra width I am getting sidewall flex, which affects the cornering. Anybody have thoughts on this?
thank you!

^^^ The problem is mainly your tire choice. Toyo are very flimsy in the sidewall. The stock tires are one of the firmest on the market. the added width isn't helping, but its only 1/3 the problem. Those T1R are total garbage for traction and more importantly the sidewall construction/handling. There will be no improvement after 500 miles/break in. It is what it is. Been there done that! Return them asap if you can, and get the Federal 595 if your shopping at Les Schwab ( they should/swap trade you easy)they are a vastly better tire all around in handling and traction for less money. If you want the best handling/traction you can get in a 16" wheel, you kind of need to be shopping in the Extreme Summer category though. Bridgstones are the firmest handlers FYI. You will tradeoff some ride quality/comfort but that's not as important as precise handling feel/turn in. This car is very sensitive to tire choice/construction.
