Checking the masters here for some opinions. I've done some research the past few days and now would like some help to bring it all together.


I found some equip 05 wheels (favorite) and wanted to know how much of a struggle to fit them would be. The offsets don't seem too bad:

17x8.5 +29
17x9.5 +41 (2" lip on both)

I would roll my fenders and relocate tabs if necessary, car is lowered on springs. I hear people say the front is usually hard to fit, and the offset is kind of low on the front rim here. The sizing in the rear doesn't look so wild.

Opinions?

It's doable, it's just a lot.... A lot of work in the front.

That's pretty much the same as my front for outward lip location. I have 17x8 et24 on my s atm but I run -3 degrees of camber and lowered about 3in. My front fenders are also rolled and pulled pretty much to the max. These were also the wheels I bought 8 years ago before I knew as much as I know now about proper wheel fitment.

You might want to reconsider the front offset and go for something more suitable for are cars.

I'm upgrading to 17x10 et50 for better track duty instead of aesthetics.

Soooooo did you mean to misspell fitment orrrrrrr?? Anyways on to your question. The front is to aggressive IMO. If it was in the mid 30's for offset I would feel better. It isn't impossible just definitely not ideal. You will need to roll the fenders all around, relocate the tabs, probably pull the fronts and run a good amount of camber for them to fit.

alright well I'm not looking to do that much work to make wheels fit, so i guess ill X these works out then. there are however some decent blitz wheels in our classifieds, these look much more friendly in size. i really just want a decent lip on my wheels, but id like to leave my camber alone and just roll fenders to make whatever wheel i end up with fit. with these rims here, i should have an easy day with fitment right?

Yes those are much easier. Front will still need a roll if you lower it to be safe but they are fine.

whats the deal with our cars? I've had 240s in the past, and it seems like the s2000 is a fwd offset red car, hahaha. you can't fit anything decent on these things without a ton of work. so now how common is it for people to do over fenders? these pics here look pretty simple to install, in my opinion look good, and should really open the door for wheels. id like to have some decent widths, but keep as close to stock alignment as i can. so if i install some decent fenders such as these, then all these fender rolling issues and camber addition and whatnot aren't an issue anymore are they?

Spend some time in the gallery. Should answer your question about wider fenders and over fenders. If you bought your s2000 expecting it to be like a 240 you are going to be very disappointed.

Yea I've soent a lot of time looking at other members wheel and fitment issues with the wheels i like. Whenever I see a wheel I'm interested I'll scour the Internet to try and find an s2000 with the same wheels or similar offset to see what issues they had. I didn't buy this car expecting a 240 at all, I just mean the rwd cars I've had in the past were easier to put wheels on than the S.

240sx I assume? 240z and you will wish you were shopping wheels for an s2k lol That's an 8" monster max there.

You can run up to a 255/295 on a stock body S with "basic" fender modifications. Just have to find the right offset/width wheels. There really is no 'need' to run over fenders, unless those tires widths are just too puny still.

Those front fenders run around $1000 for an authentic set and the rears run around $400 for an authentic set. So people either modify their stock body a little and buy friendlier wheels instead of dropping the extra cash on fenders and wider wheels. But the equips are doable with about 3 degrees camber up front and about 4 in the rear.
