Wrong size, Tire rack to the rescue.
Or more appropriately, Jim to the rescue. I had been looking for replacement tires for my car, it has about 10,000 miles on it. I am not as radical of a driver as some who post here so I settled on the Kumos. From what I

I wouldn't recomend putting them on the front unless you have an aftermarket front swaybar.
245 is the correct size for the rears if you are not using the OEM tires.
205 is the correct size for the fronts, OEM or otherwise.
Of course this is on stock rims.

sonne,
Yikes...when I was reading your post...I was scared that I wrongly influenced you to make a mistake!
There is no problem in mounting 245/45/16 tires for the rear wheels. I have encountered 3 persons that have done so.
Dave - 245/45/16 Toyo RA-1s'
Wesmaster - 245/45/16 S02 Pole Positions
??? - 245/45/16 Yokohama 032R's.
Send the 225/50/16 Kuhmo's back. You want to run 205/55/16 Kuhmo's in front.

If you want to mount one of the tires and try it as long as you don't drive on them we will still take the tire back. That way you can see if there is enough room. Turn the wheel lock to lock and check your clearance.
Let me know what you decide.
Thank you
