Yet another beat to death RPF1 17x9 +45 QUESTION that I can't find the answer to
#11
Thanks for everyones replies. I get that it can catch tab under hard compression or bottoming out, especially on turns. Usually this is due to the front being too low. This can even happen on oem wheels at a very low height.
Just trying to justify this. The car is only a 1 inch drop all around. Based on my calculations, a 215 tire on a 9 tucks about ~ 3mm further in than a 17x8 +45 with 215/45 would, and from research, the 17x8 +45 on 215 supposedly doesn't rub. I feel like this should be sufficient rebounding space where it won't catch tab on casual driving.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

It'll look like trash though. A tall ride height with a tire that stretched is going to look so bad. You & your friend need to think this through unless you want an ugly car.

[QUOTE=pli;24486292]I'm usually very good with searching and finding the answers to questions but I cant seem to find the answer to this one. I have a feeling this setup will work but I have to ask it anyways to confirm and see if anyone's done it.
Looking to squeeze 17x9 +45 RPF1s on a buddy's stock bodied S2000 - he absolutely DOES NOT want to roll front or rear fenders nor relocate tabs. Car is lowered on Swift R springs.
Will square 17x9 +45 with staggered 215/45/17 and 235/40/17 work with this setup? I would think worst case scenario, adding a UK spec alignment could work too.
Tires will probably be Falken Azenis RT615K+ and those run narrow. (Side question: maybe even RT615K 245/40/17s with -3 camber could work too? Can anyone confirm this?)
Thanks![/
N/M no it won't work or it will be too close. Tire brand could make a difference and maybe some negative camber but even then not sure.
For a second there I got the size mixed up with a 17x8 +45 rpf1 which I have tried with success in the front with a 235/40 NT01 tire and 2 degrees of negative camber sitting on KONI yellows lowest perch and Eibach sport line lowering springs. But I did a double take and OP was talking about 17x9 +45
I mean he's talking about a 215 tire so again hard to tell. Did your friend ever try it? What were his findings for future reference. Hell it probably doesn't matter anymore lol
