What to do if they total my car?
I think there is about a 60% chance they will total my car. So here's a fun game to play while I wait:
From a budget standpoint, if they total out the car, I'll pay off the BMW so I can get rid of that car payment. That will only leave me $2-3k as a down payment on something different.
While I like the Snalibu, it does have it's limits. Primarily cargo space. I do tend to move stuff around, like biking gear, scuba gear, etc. I prefer a secure cargo area (as opposed to a pickup truck.)
I am looking for something with some ground clearance as I tend to find gravel roads often. I don't need 4wd, but wouldn't complain about having it. Gas mileage is not a concern for me.
My preference is a Tahoe or a Yukon, but they are a little spendy for a good used one. (I do like the bells and whistles, which does add to the price.) I need at least 3 passenger seating, but would prefer 5+
So if you were in my shoes, what would you look at? Ideally, I'd like to keep the car/SUV under $30,000, but could stretch to $35 if I had to.

Feel free to post suggestions for cars to look at in general. Also feel free to post actual ads for things for sale. I'd prefer not to go out of state to find the next car, but will if I have to. My zip code for searches is 27529

I don't have a real opinion (other than a CR-V but that probably wouldn't be big enough), but I can say that my pops drove a '97 4Runner from 1999-2012 and had no major problems with it other than an injector going out -- that's a cheap fix. I used to see tons of those on the road, but they're not that common anymore -- not sure if that's because quality went down or something, but his experience was great.

The estimate came back, and it's about $5000 to repair. Which should be WAY below the threshold to total out the car. Which I think is good news.
I will have the BMW paid off in less than a year. If I can keep the snailibu for a few more years, I should be able to pay cash for the next car (truck) I want.
