When you get hit with the mod-bug, it is very easy to go a little overboard. If your wallet is fat, you can easily let it get away from you. Here are 10 fine examples of Honda S2000 modifications that went too far.
1. Stairway to Heaven
For some reason, spoilers that seemingly reach to the skies are a popular modification on imports. Don't let this happen. If a baby swing can be attached to a spoiler, it's just too tall.

2. Low Rider
Lowering your ride is a mod that can make your car look awesome. However, it is easy to go way too low which will cause much pain to your wallet when you have to replace cracked oil pans, scraped bumper covers or suspension issues when the car drags, scrapes or bangs the pavement.

3. Shorter Intake
A high-performance air intake system is an excellent way to grab more horsepower for your sweet ride. Just be forewarned that the short ram intake system (particularly from K&N) can bog down in very hot climates. Other intake systems (such as JDM) can give more HP boost than K&N or cheaper alternatives.

4. Blacked Out Tails
Few mods make your ride look as mean as blacked out tail lights. This is a relatively inexpensive mod that makes a big impact, especially on your wallet with all the fines you could accumulate. In many areas of the country, blacked out tail lights are illegal, so before you drop your bones down for this mod, check with your local regulations.

5. Pink-o-matic 2000
Choose your color carefully. Some colors were meant to be painted onto cars, and others, not so much. So you love hot pink? That color just looks ridiculous on your car unless you are a driving billboard advertisement for a salon. It's easy to get carried away making your S2000 look like no other, but make sure you don't overdo it and make it look like no other.

6. Clashing Rims
Some folks love the looks of clashing rims, for others, it's just a sight for sore eyes. Make sure your colors are exactly what you were hoping for and don't be disappointed when the head turns you were wanting are actually turning the other direction.

7. Chrome Dome
Chrome looks wicked on a fast ride, but there is such a thing as too much. A few accents will go a long way, but don't overdo it. Also, congratulations for being the reason for everyone being blinded when the sun hits the car and causes poor Timmy with his new driver's license to have the crash of a lifetime.

8. Oversized front Strut Bar
A very popular mod is adding a front strut bar under the hood. While this is an excellent mod, there have been many headaches when the install went in and the hood did not have the clearance. Before dropping a few bills on yours, make sure that you have the correct dimensions for your S2K.

9. Three Toned Paint Job
While a couple of complementary colors will look sweet, getting carried away might just make your ride look more like Frankenstein than you anticipated. It might not nearly look as bad Bondo-colors, it certainly brings that to mind.

10. Body Kits
Ground effects can really make your S2K stand out and look mean. Bumper covers or lips can really turn heads, but in the case with many cheaper brands, the fitment is horrid and instead of looking badass, it looks like a turd. Make sure you are working with a reputable company and can get your Benjamins back if you end up with something like this.
