The enthusiasm for the Acura Integra R is at an all-time high at the moment, and it seems to be growing. Clean examples of the Acura sports car are being sold for serious chunks of cash as of late, but none have been sold for quite as much as this (practically brand new) white beauty. This '97 Integra was sold in Las Vegas at a Barrett Jackson auction a couple of weeks ago for a whopping $63,800.
Ultra-Low Miles
The 21-year-old Acura looks to be in the same condition today as it was the day it rolled off the dealer lot. Even during the 2,000 or so miles that it was driven, it must have been amazingly taken care of to maintain its condition over the years. Everything from every inch of the paint and exterior parts, all the way to the immaculate condition of the cloth interior speak to that fact.
Perhaps what made the Integra Type R special from the get-go was its B18 power unit. The small 1.8-liter VTEC engine is capable of producing 200 HP. Keep in mind, this is the mid-90s we're talking about. 200 HP from such a tiny motor is impressive even by 2018 standards! To complement the power source, the car is equipped with a five-speed manual transmission with close gear ratios, as well as a limited-slip diff for optimal performance.
What adds to the value of this museum-quality Integra is the inclusion of very detailed and well-organized documentation of every service and maintenance milestone in the car's 21-year life. These documents, as well as the original owner's manual, were beautifully conserved by the first owner to be passed on to the buyer.
There is no doubt that these awesome little Hondas garner a lot of enthusiasm, and for good reason. But does this mean that the Acura Integra Type R is already a classic? Are we going to continue seeing a rapid rise in resale prices for these 2-door driver's cars? Only time can tell. But one thing is for sure, this pure 90's Honda sports car deserves all the enthusiasm it garners.
