A Tribute

An avid fan of the Honda S2000 as any other, Ian Prevas finally found his dream car in La Cañada Flintridge, CA a couple of years ago. And while he has an itch to modify the car to extract maximum performance under the hood, he wants to keep the look of it true to the design. The car has already undergone several upgrades, improving its power as well as handling capability. Ian, however, has plans of doing even more work to his beloved Laguna Blue automobile.

The Joy of S2000

There plenty of reasons each S2000 owner loves their car. Ian is no different. When asked what he loves about the car, Prevas did not hesitate to rave about his love for the way the car drives. "My favorite thing to do is to carve up the canyons early in the morning." Before he came to own one though, the design of the car was what caught his eye. "I like the front fenders and how they transition into the body." Ian raves. "It is just design perfection."

Untouched

Having been seeking after his perfect match for years, the stars finally aligned when he found his S2K in his local Southern California. "I've had a lot of my hero cars," he said. "MK4 Supra, a Cobra, and a Trans Am WS6, but number one on the list was the Honda." Ian found his 2007 S2000 in his favorite color with only 27 thousand miles and the rest is history. It was "bone stock" and a clean example according to Ian, a perfect starting point.

A Little Tweak

Ian, like many of us, appreciates the authenticity and the beauty of the S2000 in its original form. While he has made various modifications to the car, you won't see any alterations of the body itself. "All the mods are performance-based," he points out. "there are no cosmetic changes on the outside except for the CCW Classic wheels at all four corners." An automotive design student at Art Center College of Design, Prevas understands the principals of car styling. "The design is so pure that the last thing I would want to do would be to destroy the lines and proportion with a body kit," he said. "In my eyes it's perfect."

Let the Modding Begin

Ian has not been shy in applying performance upgrades to his car though. Some of the modifications include an Eibach Pro-Kit lowering springs as well as sway bars in both front and rear. He has also fitted the 18" CCW's with Michelin PS2 rubber. To increase the power output as well as the exhaust note, the headers are now HKS Jasma, along with Berk 70mm Test Pipe and resonator delete. The clutch has been upgraded to ACT stage one, with a Spoon clutch line. In the brake department, the car now has Spoon Monoblock four-piston calipers, Stoptech rotors, Street trackpads, and braided stainless steel hydraulic lines. For the enjoyment of his ears, he has added a Pioneer sound system with a ten-inch JBL sub-woofer in the rear of the car.

What's Next?

As we all know, enough is never enough! Prevas already has plans of what he wants to upgrade on his car next. "The biggest by far from upcoming mods is to do either a turbocharge or a supercharge," he speaks of the dilemma. "I'm leaning toward the HKS supercharger, but I do miss the days with my Supra and how the boost would hit," he admits. "I'm at a crossroads with my decision and it could go either way."
