AP2 S2000 Built Specifically to Wear Many Hats
Like most S2000 builds, this one follows the tried and true formula of building a reliable daily capable of cutting quick lap times.
Doing It All
The S2000 is a car that's good at many things - offering up reliable transportation, a fun and spirited driving experience, and the capability of becoming a serious track machine if you want to put in the time and effort. But many S2Ki members prefer to modify their cars for occasional track use without going so far as to diminish their streetability. And that dual threat capability is exactly what led AP2 Mikey to Honda's legendary platform in the first place.

Love at First Sight
"I've recently gotten into the S2000 scene, coming from a lightly modded 2013 FRS that I had for 4.5 years," the OP said. "I picked up my '06 Berlina Black AP2 with 58,002 miles after just a few days of looking. This was actually the very first one I looked at. It was so clean that I couldn't pass it up. The car was completely stock from what I could tell, without much evidence of modding from the previous owners. I'll be modding the car for dual duty (99% daily, 1% track) while keeping the car 100% track-capable and ready."

Instant Improvement
From the very first test drive, the OP immediately felt like the S2000 was a superior platform to his old FRS in terms of suspension and driving feel. But it was also out of alignment and rolling on bald tires, so there was room for improvement. But first, he replaced the spark plugs before securing a new/used set of CE28m wheels and tires. And then it was on to the typical maintenance stuff like changing fluids.

Solid Base
Next, it was time to tackle the suspension. The major component here was an Öhlins DFV coilover set, followed by a much-needed alignment. But that also highlighted another problem - some major rubbing. Which was no big deal, really, because the OP had planned on rolling the fenders from the very beginning of this project. So that's exactly what he did.

Adding Up
From here, the little mods just kept adding up. Things like a reserve coolant tank, GoPro mount, and various other little bits and pieces. In the meantime, the OP had been racking up quite a few miles on the car, commuting about 90 a day to school and back. Unfortunately, it was during this time that somebody hit him and caused some damage to the front bumper. But as is usually the case, he just took this as an opportunity.

Taking Advantage
In addition to fixing up the damage, the OP also added a Mugen replica front lip to the car. The shop that did the repairs obviously did a nice job, and the car was looking fantastic. Soon, the OP also picked up an OEM hardtop to complete the look. And oh, what a look it is.
