Revealed at SEMA 2025, the BP25 restomod celebrates pure driver engagement in an era increasingly defined by automation and electric performance.
A Quarter-Century of JDM Passion
For its 25th anniversary, Bulletproof Automotive returned to its roots with a project that honors the spirit of Japan’s golden tuning era. The BP25 Honda S2000, unveiled at the 2025 SEMA Show’s Toyo Tires Treadpass, is the company’s ultimate expression of analog performance. Surrounded by futuristic EV prototypes and AI-powered designs, the S2000 stood out as a raw, mechanical counterpoint, a “tribute to the spirit that first defined the S2000,” according to founder Ben Schaffer.
From Roadster to Supercharged Coupe
Bulletproof began with a standard Honda S2000 and transformed it into a widebody coupe using a Spoon hardtop and the Varis Dark Panther carbon-fiber body kit, its first appearance in North America. The extensive aero package adds widened fenders, new vents, reshaped bumpers, and a towering rear wing. The body, finished in Lamborghini Balloon White with gold accents, recalls Bulletproof’s earlier Concept One project that once dominated Tsukuba Circuit and now resides in the Petersen Museum.
Performance Materials
Carbon and magnesium mirrors, custom LED taillights, and red accents sharpen the car’s visual aggression, while 19-inch BP-RW Evolution forged wheels, crafted with a Tsuchime hammered-metal finish inspired by Japanese knife-making, merge design artistry with functionality.
Sharpened Chassis, Modern Hardware
To match its visual drama, the BP25’s chassis was comprehensively overhauled. A Top Secret coilover system forms the foundation, supported by parts from J’s Racing, Roberuta, Spoon, EVS, ASM, and Aragosta. The braking setup employs Brembo’s latest Pista forged system, ensuring control to match the car’s formidable output. Toyo R888R tires provide the necessary grip for both track and street precision.
This emphasis on mechanical feel and tactile engagement mirrors the ethos of early-2000s Japanese performance engineering — only now elevated with two decades of development insight.
A Screaming Heart at 10,000 RPM
The BP25’s most defining feature lies beneath the hood: a heavily reworked 2.0-liter engine paired with a Vortech supercharger. Output climbs to 580 horsepower at 9,300 rpm, with the redline extending to an astonishing 10,000 rpm. The combination of supercharged torque and the trademark VTEC surge captures the essence of high-revving Honda performance, but reimagined for modern reliability through advanced AEM management and reinforced internals.
6-Speed Transmission
A six-speed manual transmission and limited-slip differential send power to the rear wheels, while a titanium Amuse header and Euro Dual 70mm titanium exhaust amplify every throttle blip into a metallic scream. “We took that core high-revving, analogue purity and amplified it with 580 supercharged horsepower and the finest modern tech,” said Schaffer.
Precision Inside and Out
The cabin blends motorsport function with refined craftsmanship. Recaro RS-G seats with harnesses, a Mugen suede steering wheel, ARC titanium shift knob, and NSX-R horn button emphasize tactile control. Alcantara upholstery with red stitching, along with a color-matched roll bar, ties the interior to the car’s racing intent.
Each component reflects Bulletproof’s philosophy: craftsmanship without compromise, rooted in heritage yet forward-looking in execution.

For Ben Schaffer and his team, the BP25 isn’t just a commemorative project; it’s a manifesto. “Pure driving pleasure never goes out of style,” he remarked, summarizing Bulletproof’s stance in an increasingly automated industry. The BP25 S2000 stands as a reminder of what analog performance feels like when precision, noise, and mechanical feedback take precedence over convenience.
