Dave's Black Mamba S2000

Promises, like buying a car and keeping it stock, were meant to be broken.

Things start so innocently

Profiled on keepitclean is this U.K. bred S2000 that literally is one of the cleanest examples we've ever seen. When Dave Watson bought his S2000 he had an idea that he wanted to keep the car as original to when it left the factory as possible. He says, "Originally my plans were to keep it quite stock after owning a modified Civic Jordan for 7 years. I wanted to lower it a tiny bit, add the optional Honda exterior parts and leave it at that." However, as we all know from experience that those feelings will fade and the mod bug will start to bite. Piece by piece and bit by bit the changes begin to stack up and the car you see before you was born.

Dave couldn't help himself

Early mods on the S2000 included the OEM front lip, low-level spoiler, and Eibach lowerings springs... none of which are still on the car. Jump five years into ownership of the car and you have Dave's creation that he lovingly refers to "Black Mamba." The car is sitting static with BC Racing coilovers and fitted with staggered fully polished 3-piece 18" Work VS-MX wheels. Out back is an Invidia Q300 exhaust with decat that provides a beautiful soundtrack while Dave carves up the roads.

Tasteful body alterations

For the body, there is a full OEM CR kit that had to be installed because, as Dave says, "Being a huge gamer, I’ve always loved how the S2000 CR (Club Racer) looked on games like Forza Motorsport. I wanted to get mine looking like the US-only CR that we never got here in the UK." I'm going to side with Dave when I say that putting on a kit that accentuates the lines while still staying in the midset of being factory has completely worked out.

So clean you can eat off of it

When it comes to the upkeep of the car, Dave has a leg up on the average person since he works in the detailing industry and has access to all the professional goodies. "If my car isn’t up to my own high standards of OCD, I won’t take it to shows or meets even if all my friends say it looks mint!" With a black car that looks as if the paint is laid on glass, I cannot argue with his feelings at all.

The damage done so far

Looking at the car you'd think that the normal person would be satisfied with the changes made but that is far from the truth when Dave was asked. "Writing the spec list, it doesn’t seem like a lot. There’s still so much more to do."
