DIY iPhone Adapter Install

With an already small cabin like the Honda S2K's interior, not hauling bags of CDs around is critical. Here is how to install an iPhone adapter in your S2000.

1. Remove Center Console

Before starting the process, remove the negative terminal of your battery. To remove the center console, remove the lock nuts on the shifter handle, then gently pry off the center console, starting from the back where the leather is, then make your way further back.

2. Drill Cable Hole

Drill a hole for the iPhone cable in the bottom left corner of the glovebox. You can access this if you remove the spare tire and briefly lift the foam liner from the rear. Put the small end of the cable through the hole, then feed it through.

3. Feed the Wire Through

The wire will go through under the power outlet area. However, feeding it through won't be as easy, so you may want to tie something to the cable so you can be able to pull it from. Forum member Zer0ne chose some paper clips as his weapon of choice. Remove the two screws located under the power outlet, then pull up on the plastic until the clip disconnects, which will create more room for you to grab the paper clips connected to your cable. Once you get a hold of the paper clips, gently feed it through until you're officially inside the cabin.

4. Route the Wire

Now that you got past the difficult part, route the cable further forward so you can connect it to your radio. Gently pull up on the foam around the center console and the shifter, and neatly feed the cable underneath it until you reach the radio wires.

5. Connect iPhone Adapter

The adapter will come with an easy-to-connect box, which will connect your adapter and radio together easily. The only thing is you will have to find a spot for the box, like the glovebox. Connect the wires to the small box as instructed in its instructional manual, then place it where you want it, whether it is the glovebox or under the dashboard.

6. Put Everything Back Together

Reinstall everything back in place. Be sure all your wires are neatly tucked in place, then put the center console back in place. Connect the negative battery terminal, then give your new adapter a shot. Once it works, blast some music and go for a cruise.
