From Fantasy to Reality: One Forum Member's Journey to Ownership

It was love at first sight way back in 1997 when the S2000 graced the pages of Road and Track magazine. Years later, Tahsin was able to purchase his car right from this very forum.

1. Meet TK

Tahsin Khan, or as his friends refer to him, TK, is a photographer who has had a love affair with cars that goes all the way back to when he was a toddler. He remarks that "my first word was Gāṛī which means 'car' in Bengali, my parents' language. From my first word to today, my extended family still use Gāṛī as my nickname."

2. A candle that refused to burn out

TK learned and mastered how to drive stick on a Civic Si just so that when he could get his hands on his dream car he'd be ready to go. In 2013, he finally purchased this 2006 Honda S2000 from an ad posted in S2Ki.com. TK found the car that would become his right in the Classifieds section on S2ki. His buddy drove him to the seller's house to see the car and make sure everything was on the up and up. The owner, Tony, gave him a quick drive in the car so he could see that it ran fine. TK then drove the car for himself and immediately told Tony he'd buy it the next day. He purchased his Laguna Blue Pearl for $21,000 with just 50,500 miles on it. After picking up the car, he took a little trip to San Jose to pick up a friend who is also an S2000 fan and they went to an S2000 meet.

3. Of course there are more mods...

When asked if he has any plans to continue modifying the car, he says that the modding will never stop. At the moment Tahsin is looking to grab a set of coilovers to raise the car just enough in order to fit wider rims on a square setup. After that, he wants to add a Voltex front bumper (Race Version)EVS Tuning vented wide front fenders, and Voltex Type 1 GT wing or the Voltex swan neck wing. He would eventually like to redo the hardtop's headliner in Alcantara and add door inserts on the sides and the dash.

4. From Honda to Honda

When asked how it feels to drive the S2000, TK confessed that it felt almost unreal. "It’s crazy what Honda was able to create in the late 90’s with this car & the NSX. The handling, even after all these years is great. I worked at a car consignment place and got to drive a lot of Porsches and other exotics and the balance and how it drives, it's on par with the 911, in my opinion. I drove my friend's 370Z last month and felt my 11-year-old S2000 handles and drives better than a modern Japanese sports car."

TK did not learn to drive stick on the S2000. "I actually learned how to drive stick on a test drive after watching a YouTube video. When I bought my last a car, a 07 Honda Civic Si, that's the car that helped me hone my skills and master manual shifting."

5. The love is still going strong

Four years have passed since the day TK purchased his S2000, but he still loves his car just as much if not more than the day he bought it. He remarks, "Every time that I see the car, whether from my window at work, at a distance, or in my own garage, it brings a smile to my face. I still can’t believe I not only own one but get to drive it every day. The love people get for their kid or girlfriend, I get the same for my S2000."
