1. Remove Old Air Box Components

Begin by unsnapping and removing the lid from the factory air box, then remove the air filter. Disconnect the crankcase vent tube, air injection hose, and vacuum lines from the air box.

2. Remove the Old Air Box

Loosen the inlet piping clamp from the throttle body and disconnect it. Unplug the MAF sensor lead and place it aside to prevent any damage. Remove the three air box mounting bolts that secure it to the engine compartment. Remove the air box.

3. Remove the Air Control Solenoid Valve and Factory Hard Lines

Remove the air control solenoid valve from the stock air box so it can be reused with the new box. Remove the hard lines that connect to the factory vacuum, coolant, and crankcase hoses that you removed from the air box.

4. Install Coolant Hose and Air Control Solenoid Valve

Run the length of 5/16" hose that comes with the kit from the intake manifold's coolant fittings to the throttle body. Keep some towels handy as a little coolant will likely leak out. Mount the air control solenoid valve you saved from the old air box to the vacuum tank, upside down. Use the spacer and 5mm bolt provided in the kit the fasten it in place. Next, use the supplied 5" vacuum hose to connect the top fitting on the valve to the vacuum tank.

5. Install Vacuum Hoses

Take the 22" section of hose supplied in the kit and run it from the lower vacuum valve fitting to the lower fuel rail vacuum fitting. Run the included 26" vacuum line from the check valve to the upper vacuum line located under the rail.

6. Install the New Air Box

Remove the front mounting tab for the air box for clearance. Position the new air box and align the fender side hole with the inner fender hole. Push the aluminum backing plate in place through the larger hole in the inner fender to use as an anchor for the mounting bolt. Insert the bolt and start it, but don't tighten it. Start the rear mounting bolt, then push down on the bottom of the box while you tighten both bolts. This will keep the box from rubbing against the bottom of the hood.

7. Install Air Injection Hose and Air Box Funnel

Connect the air injection hose to the Comptech's inlet tubing bung. Use a piece of silicon hose and two hose clamps to secure the main inlet piping to the throttle body, but don't tighten them up until everything is in place. Attach the other short silicon hose to the end of the air box funnel and use a hose clamp to secure it, then place it on the side of the box.

8. Oil the New Filter and Attach Locating Pin

Treat the new filter with the included spray-on oil, applying it evenly across the surface. Attach the locating pin to the front of the filter. Apply some lube to the pin and push it into the rubber grommet in the bottom of the box.

9. Tighten up Clamps and Fit Prop Rod

Tighten the hose clamps slowly, making sure everything is seated correctly as you go. Install the included 1/2" hose to the crankcase vent and the bung on the side of the inlet tubing. Finally, ground down the square corners on the plastic end of the prop rod so that the box lid fits properly.
