1 million or 2 million? Well maybe not that much, but they will increase in value for the following reasons:

Government Regulation

Hybrids aren’t just coming, they’ve arrived with tasers in hand and a pack of lobbyists behind them. Their goal? Take our internal combustion engines and replace them with overweight pigs until we all think the Toyota Prius is the new S600. The worst part is we can’t stop it. Cars are getting heavier with more and more complications every day. If old 911s are anything to go by we can surmise rare Japanese cars will be the same.

Limited Production

1,500 CRs were built which means they aren’t easy to come across. Living in Los Angeles I can count on one hand the number of S2000 Club Racers I have seen in person on the street. This rarity means when people do sell them, they sell fast. There’s a high demand for this car and it’s easy to see why. Honda nailed it right from the jump with this one.

Factory Exclusives Spike

Almost every factory exclusive version of a major sports car ends up appreciating, especially if it’s a great car like the S2k. Case and point, the Toyota’s 2000 GT went up 3 fold in asking price in a span of just 3 years. Financial bubbles in the sports car world can come out of nowhere (think Porsche 911R) and swoop up boatloads of cash in the process.

When it Will Happen

I don’t have a crystal ball, but if I had to make a prediction I would guess in the next 15 years the S2000 CR will be selling for double whatever the asking prices are now. Law and regulations are changing so fast it’s safe to say we are never going to get another car like this from Honda unless they revamp the whole lineup. You’re better off saving up than holding your breath!

Pure Driving Bliss

S2000s were incredibly popular when they debuted in 1999 due to their light weight reinforced chassis and rev happy 2.0 liter 4 cylinder power plant. Naturally aspirated high revving engines are on their way out with seemingly no return in sight. The result? An inevitable increase in the desire to own vehicles like this.

But It’s Still a Honda

I can already picture you shaking your head as you mutter this beneath your breath. Well, remember the 2000 GT was just a Toyota at one point and you can’t find one of those cheaper than a million USD now. Just a Honda, right? I don’t think so. The S2000 Club Racer is what everyone wants from manufacturers and what really gets us excited about the brand in the first place. I just hope they don’t get too expensive before I own one!
