S2000 Gets Extra Satisfying Hood-Exit Exhaust

The Honda S2000 had just 240-horsepower when it debuted in the year 2000, yet it's a car that remains a favorite among purely on its "fun to drive" reputation and relatively easy to modify style. However, this S2000 has gained a second Life as a track demon

Drivability 101

The legions of those who own a Honda S2000 adore them —thanks in large part to their drivability. Excellent cornering and communication between the steering and the wheels have made it a cult favorite, and a sought-after alternative to heavy, exotic cars ladened with too much technology. Never a powerful car (it had just 240-horsepower when it debuted in the year 2000,) the S2000 remains a favorite among purely on its "fun to drive" reputation and relatively easy to modify style. That said, there are modified S2000s, and there are modified Honda S2000s. This particular model falls in the latter category.

A Priority on Performance

Unlike the original, this completely overhauled 2003 Honda S2000 has plenty of power thanks to tons of engine upgrades. From new performance valves, pistons, and X-beam connecting rods, speed was the number one goal with this custom modification. There’s also a performance turbo kit to complement the massive intercooler and hood exit downpipe.

A Breath of Fresh Air

This modified 2003 S2000 also features an air-fuel mixture that’s delivered to the engine through a Magnus intake manifold, larger Denso injectors, and Full Blown Motorsports fuel rail and pump —placing still even more focus on speed —particularly by increasing the car’s acceleration power.

Veni Vedi Vici

Of course, an imaginative air-fuel mixture isn’t the only thing that makes this S2000 a beast on the track. The car’s significantly boosted performance is also powered by a heavily modified suspension complete with 17-inch wheels and drag radial tires that scream even when you look at them. Interestingly, the transmission is stock — but it’s mated to a brand spanking new limited-slip differential. All the power is controlled by a high-pressure race-disk brake system that provides ample stopping power.

No Frills, All Flight

This beauty has been modified for life on the track, all unnecessary features have been axed. That means prospective buyers can say goodbye to heating and air conditioner systems, the S2000’s trademark soft top, and anti-lock brake system. What you’ll get in return is the warming comfort of a race suit and admirable track times. Don’t worry, though. This suped-up S2000 isn’t completely Spartan —the power windows still work and the door panels, carpet, and center console are all still on board.

If Looks Could Kill, You'd Already be Dead

Those concerned about signs of age on this S2000's body needn't fret: there's not a speck of rust on her. In fact, it's been recently resprayed with a fiendish silver paint scheme that makes this mod as hot as it is fast. Thanks to great looks, incredible speed potential and a legacy of great drivability that's still pined for two decades on, you really can't go wrong with this S2000 —a car that's through the roof in more ways than one.
