Build It Up

If you want some inspiration for your own S2000 build, you won't find a better place than the S2KI forums. We know this because, well, we spend way to much time in there scoping out all the amazing and unique builds our members conjure up. And when we came across blixhavn's AP1 build thread, we knew it was too good not to share with you.

Humble Beginnings

The OP's S2000 journey began a long time ago - 9 years ago to be exact, when he first purchased his ride. He proceeded to drive the car for about a year before the itch to mod it kicked in. An exhaust and stereo system were the first order of business, as they often are.

New Shoes

Some wider wheels were next on the list, which the OP had custom painted to match the car's black finish. He dressed them up with custom center caps from an Odyssey (of all places) and painted the calipers to match.

Good Times Bad Times

Things escalated rather quickly from there. First it was a new clutch and flywheel. Then the big dog - a Paxton Novi blower pumping out 9psi of boost. The OP also went with a larger 70mm throttle body, all of which was good for 293 hp on the dyno. But soon, bad things started to happen. First, some damage at a car wash. Then, the OP was rear-ended by a Jeep.

Making Matters Worse

To make matters worse, a backed out charger pulley bolt killed the pulley and blew an intake valve after the car was fixed. Thus, it just made sense to redo the entire engine at this point. The bottom end went off to a speed shop while the OP ordered up a slew of fresh components to make his baby sing.

Dyno'd and Raced

Once the short block made it back, the OP assembled everything himself and gave it a fresh coat of paint. With everything buttoned up, his first stop, of course, was at the dyno. There the new engine laid down 377 hp at the wheels, a pretty nice improvement. He was also able to make some passes at the drag strip, where the car recorded a best past of 12.92 at 117 mph.

Swapping Boost

Pretty good, but not good enough, apparently. Once winter hit, the OP decided to swap his method of boost and go with a turbo. He also yanked the engine out, once again, to make things go a little easier. He wanted to repaint the engine bay satin black anyway, so why not?

Diving Right In

And that wasn't all. The OP soon decided to fab up his own crossmember and redo the wiring. Thus, the interior came out as well. Then he started welding up the entire engine bay to get rid of those ugly seams, and once all that intensive work was completed, it was finally time to install the newly turbo'd motor.

Getting Extreme

By now, most people would be satisfied with the results. But not the OP! He purchased some massive new tires, which even J's fenders wouldn't cover. Thus, he did some fab work of his own to keep things looking OEM. He then did the same thing up front before his 5 months of waiting on a new bumper finally paid off.

Finished?

Years later, this insane S2000 project was finally complete. Well, maybe. This time around, it was cranking out a healthy 539 hp on the dyno. Thus, perhaps the OP has finally finished building the car of his dreams. But we'd wager that it won't stay exactly like this for long!
