Someone Put a Viper V10 Under the Hood of a Honda S2000
A Honda S2000 with a Dodge Viper V10 might sound absurd, but this build pushes boundaries in all the right ways.
A Radical Swap: From High-Revving Four to Ten Cylinders
The Honda S2000 is no stranger to engine swaps, but while most enthusiasts upgrade to a K24 or an LS V8, this build takes an extreme approach. Under the hood sits an 8.3-liter V10 from a Dodge Viper, replacing Honda’s legendary F20C. Originally producing 510 horsepower and 535 lb-ft of torque, this monstrous engine has been further enhanced with forged pistons, steel rods, and new heads. Custom headers and a bespoke exhaust system ensure that it sounds as aggressive as it performs.
Reinventing the Chassis for Brutal Power
Stuffing a massive V10 into an S2000 required significant structural modifications. The car’s original frame was completely rebuilt, incorporating custom hubs, axles, and a Ford Explorer-sourced rear differential. These upgrades ensure the drivetrain can withstand up to 1,000 horsepower. To handle the increased power and weight, the suspension was upgraded with Penske adjustable coilovers, while braking duties are split between AP Racing brakes up front and Wilwood brakes at the rear.
Impressive Weight Balance and Road Presence
Despite the addition of the Viper’s heavy V10, the car remains relatively lightweight at 3,201 pounds (1,451 kg). Thanks to strategic engine placement behind the front axle, the car maintains a front-to-rear weight distribution of 47% to 53%, helping preserve its balance and handling characteristics. It sits on massive 18-inch wheels wrapped in 315mm front and 335mm rear tires, ensuring maximum grip.
A Street Car with Extreme Character
Originally purchased as a Viper-swapped project, the current owner transformed it into a fully realized street machine. With its reinforced chassis, high-performance upgrades, and unmistakable V10 growl, this S2000 is far beyond a typical roadster—it’s an engineering marvel that bridges JDM precision with raw American muscle.
