Supercharged AP1 in Nardo Grey Turns Heads

Florida might not produce the same number of sweet builds as it used to, but one man is keeping the dream alive!

Bucking the Trend

Florida, once a proud harbinger of custom JDM builds, just ain't what it used to be. Rampant theft and a changing of the guard created somewhat of a generational gap. But that hasn't stopped veteran guys like Matt Hamilton from churning out incredible rides. The latest of which is this amazingly detailed, tastefully done Audi Nardo Grey-painted Honda S2000 that recently graced the pages of Super Street

Standing out

The build, as most builds do, actually began quite humbly. A simple coilover swap, CCW forged wheels, and basic exterior upgrades, to be specific. And yet, Hamilton always had grander plans for his AP1. He always dreamed of collecting what he considered to be the ultimate conglomeration of parts from Japan, a "best of the best" if you will. The trouble, as it always is, was getting all of those mismatched parts to work harmoniously together. But Hamilton is a pro's pro, as you might have already guessed by now.

One of a Kind

The first step, of course, was getting the outside of this AP1 looking right. So Hamilton first tracked down a highly sought after Voltex Street bumper and J's Racing 1700mm GT wing. To make his S2ki wider (and make room for larger rubber), Hamilton then acquired Autobacs ASM rear over-fenders and a matching rear bumper to go along with J's Racing front fenders. Those fat fenders made enough room for a set of Volk Racing TE37 18x9.5" wheels wrapped in Toyo R888 255 tires at all four corners. Wrapping up the exterior mods is a set of Carshop GLOW LED taillights.

Power to Match the Looks

As good as the outside of this AP1 looks, there's plenty of heat underneath the hood, too. That's where you'll find a highly modified F20C pumping out 400+ horsepower. The bulk of which comes from an HKS GT Supercharger kit, but other goodies include 800cc injectors, a bigger fuel pump, and a Hytech header. Throw in a gorgeous titanium J's Racing 70mm exhaust and AEM engine management system, and you've got one tasty (and powerful) combo.

The Total Package

While many of these builds we come across skimp on the interior, Hamilton's AP1 most certainly does not. Amidst a blue Cusco seven-point roll cage you'll find a pair of Bride Japan seats - VIOS III Low Max on the driver's side and ZETA III on the passenger side.

Making Dreams Come True

The Mugen steering wheel pops right off thanks to a Works Bell Rapfix II quick release. And titanium hardware is everywhere, from the J's Racing shift knob to the steering wheel bits. It's every bit as detailed a build as you'd expect from a skilled craftsman - inside and out. And proof that the Florida custom car scene ain't dead yet!
