Welcome to Thailand

The street scene in Thailand has been slowly building and has become quite respectable as of late.  They recently held their annual meet up and had quite the turnout.

While this gathering brought out a wide variety of cars from modified Volkswagen drag cars, and beetles to Skylines this article will focus on some of the Honda examples that were out on display.

A Call to Meet

Months before the meetup the wheels have been turning on planning the event.  This isn't some amateur event at all.  There is quite the sponsorship base, not to mention the fact that the University of Bangkok plays host to the event.

As you can tell by the screenshot all the pieces are in place two months prior to the event when the public notices first start hitting Facebook.

Honda Represent!

Like here in the US, Honda builds are quite popular over in Thailand, and like the US again it seems everyone is able to put their own spin and flavor into their builds. There was everything from mild to wild at the show.

A Little Wild

For an example of wild, I present this custom 4th Gen convertible Civic. This is actually some clean work and not some sawzall job.  The body lines toward the rear are reminiscent of a 3 Series BMW to my eye.

Something Mild

This here is the Rocket Bunny Civic, a nice wide bodied 3rd Gen, that aside from the spoiler is rather muted in appearance, a perfect sleeper car.

Back to Wild Side

I absolutely love the look of this 9th Gen, the wrap job looks good and clean and just provides a visual pop to grab your eye. Then the Lexan hood is always a treat. Also, note the Recaro seating inside.

You Get The Idea

Back on the mild side, we have this 8th Gen FD2 Civic, sporting the Spoon front bumper, and mirrors. The aero bonnet gives it a nice aggressive look despite its rather tame appearance.

Enter the Drag Cars

Here we have a heavily modified Honda Brio. With this car's short stocky, and ready to pounce appearance you know it means business.  The fully caged out interior just shows you how much work has been put into this car. I'd like to see it run, hear the turbo spooling up while breathing through it's enlarged nostrils, then hear it scream down the quarter blaring out the hater pipe all the way down to the cutoff line.

Is that Drag Insight?

Yes, yes it is.  I would absolutely love to see this car's build sheet, the massive intercooler alone tells me that turbo has got to be huge.  Honda's F1 team may need to talk to this guy to get some tips on top end speed!

Come On!

You didn't think we'd put this article on an S2000 site, and not have at least one example of the model to show you guys, did you? This widebodied model just exudes attitude, I love the looks of the air vanes on the nose, and the aggressive rake to the hood just makes this a sexy ride.

Thailand's enthusiasts have proven their mettle, and show that their street scene deserves attention, sure they're not on the same level as Japan yet, but every scene started small. I for one will be sure to keep an eye out for the Siam 2019 meet.
