Martian Red, Posted by True Blood

Last year, we published a slideshow called The Top 6 Colors to Make Sure Your S2000 Stands Against the Crowd and surprise of all surprises, it didn't go over so well within the S2Ki forum community. Sure it generated some conversation, which is the point of these slideshows, but it didn't offer a very fresh or enlighting look at color choices and looking back on it now, I can't disagree. One member claimed that our slideshow seemed to suggest that the best color for the S2000 was every color! While the S2000 does look good in practically every color, our intention was to show you which colors might help you to stand out from the crowd and clearly we missed the mark entirely.

Note: Martian Red is our own name for this color. Does anyone know what it's called? First to tell us gets free sh!t from S2Ki.com.

Another forum member mentioned that silver, white, and black are far from colors that will bring the wow factor to your S2000.  Another good point and I have to agree. What's so unique about an S2000 that is black, white, or silver. I probably see one of each every single day on my 75-minute commute through the gridlocked freeways of Los Angeles. And when you think about it, suggesting that a white, black, or silver car is unique is liking saying that you're going to Baskin Robins because they have so many amazing flavors and then you walk out the door with a vanilla cone in hand. You're risky. When the world is your oyster, you pick grooper.

My favorite member comment from that article came from forum member rpg51 who suggested that it must have been a slow news day for S2Ki. I can't recall the circumstances of that day, but because the S2000 is no longer in production, and hasn't been in 9 or 10 years, no day is a particularly busy news day when it comes to the little roadster that you guys clearly won't give up on, and nor should you. So, yes, rpg51 was probably right. The day we published that article was like most others, a slow news day. That means we had to dig down into the depths of this forum (and we'd definitely need more than the three of us to mine even a fraction of its gems) and find some cool builds, topics, or events to bring back to the surface for you guys to rediscover (or discover if you are relatively new to this forum).

Turn Up Teal, Posted by okaydel

So for all of the points behind us (and many other past comments levied at the CCE which I have read and noted, but won't get into right now, I would like to offer you a few custom colors. Colors you won't typically see and in some cases, you won't see at all because they were on vehicles found in Japan. I pulled most of these cars from our own forum but also plucked others from custom paint websites in and around Google.

Keep in mind, these are custom colors that I did not apply by hand (using a real paintbrush or a virtual one in Photoshop) and they are the ones that got the biggest reaction from forum members. Some are great, some are good, and some pretty questionable. A few, I admit, are so butt ugly that just looking at them could cause me to disassociate from S2000 altogether.

In the slide above, poster okaydel tells us that it's not painted at all; it's actually a Hexis wrap matte teal HX30BTUM.

In choosing which cars/colors to post in this slideshow, I immediately discounted small images that would look lousy in a slideshow, and I tried to stay away from anything white, black, or silver, and even quite honestly, yellow or red. While those colors are classic and do look great on the S2K (after all they are the colors for which the car was intended), they need to take a long sabbatical.

I also tried to stay away from posting cars sporting similar but slightly different colors. So if you have an S2000 that looks like one of these and you're wondering why I didn't choose it, it's because we probably already have one like it in this slideshow. There's also the possibility that we might want to use yours for a special feature slideshow.

Flat Green AP1

Finally, I didn't want to post cars in any traditionally predictable order such as this one: 1. The Blues   2. The Reds 3. The Blacks. 4. And so on and so on. Or this sort of breakdown: 1. The Good. 2. The Bad. 3. The Ugly. So, instead, I put the cars in a hat and picked them out one by one. What you've been looking at is my random order.

Now that's a Clear Coat

I saved what I think is the biggest show stopper for last.

We hope you had fun with this one. Be sure to click on the link below to comment. We'd love to know what you think about these colors and if you've seen more = unusual customs colors, please share them with us!
