Always pushing

Timmy Megenbier, the former owner of this S2000 built the car to serve his passion for racing. Years ago Timmy took part in the 2009 Volkswagen Jetta TDI Cup and by the end of the season had earned the championship along with a full ride to Germany. In the next year, he earned a fourth-place finish in the Scirocco Cup and appeared on the Discover channel all at the age of just 17.

Guten Tag to you too!

While spending time in a foreign place one would naturally acclimate themselves to their surroundings and the customs. Being in the home of the bratwurst would inevitably bring someone who is in motorsports in contact with a certain brand that prides themselves on performance. Timmy's admiration for Porsche, however, didn't start during his overseas trip as his father had owned one previously. "My dad's second car was an '84 Carrera. He told me all about how he made 500hp out of the 4.1L motor and besides that, once you drive a Porsche... that's the one you want."

From one generation to the next

When Timmy first bought the S2000 he spent countless hours in the garage with his father as they built the car together. His father also spent time as Timmy's mechanic throughout his racing career and basically teaching him everything he knew about cars. The father and son team spent over a year on and off reworking and shaping the roadster into what you see. For example, the 15mm front fenders and 10mm quarter panel increases don't stray far from the original S2000 you'd see. The front and rear bumpers were cut in half at the center and then carefully added material for a production-like quality. There were easier ways to do things but the two saw no reason to rush anything and produce a creation that was inferior in their eyes.

Quite the wing

"The car sat in primer for about nine months while we went back and forth with the bodywork, fitting the wheels and adjusting the ride height over and over again until I was happy." Once the exterior of the car was finished it was turned over to Timmy's uncle who laid down a custom blue pearl infused Sebring Silver paint onto the S2000.

The roof level Voltex swan-neck rear wing on the trunk of the car sits 3 inches higher than the original version all thanks to risers fabricated by Timmy and his father. The wing is anchored properly in place with steel brackets and custom bracing that resides where the inner trunk liner once was.

So long...

For power modifications, there is just a CT engineering carbon fiber "ice box" intake and Origin Fabrications race titanium exhaust. That's pretty much it. Timmy's racing prowess is so finely tuned that he can often run laps around other drivers who have twice the horsepower under their foot.

"The first time on the track with the wheels and aero and the car was super smooth. Even my girlfriend, who helped me get the car finished, commented that it just worked so smooth when we're pushing the car hard and I think after that track experience, she really understood that all of the hard work, money, fights, etc., were worth the trouble."

But all things must come to an end and some things just end out of the blue. The car suddenly went up for sale and within a week it was sold at the full asking price. As far as what could be next, Timmy is hell-bent on finding a Porsche 911 Carrera S.
