Dream Project

The legendary Honda/Acura mid-engine platform of the '90s is appreciated by enthusiasts both in stock form and at various levels of customization. For Las Vegas-based Paul Siu, getting his hands on his dream ride also marked the start of a thorough mod project with the 1993 NSX.

Blue Devil

The fact that the Nevada state license plate arrived with the numbers '666' in it gave Paul the idea to name it 'Project Blue Devil.' It also gave him affirmation to go all in and build a monstrous supercar. Work started with the exterior mods. The NSX was lowered via HKS Hipermax II adjustable coilovers. And with the goal of standing out in mind, Paul turned to Cantrell Concepts for their GT wide body kit, adding width at the front and rear fenders.

Dialing In the Looks

A Taitec JGTC rear diffuser and a Max Racing Super Taikyu spoiler were added to enhance the aggressive look as well as the car's aerodynamics. And Work VS-SS wheels bring everything together nicely. With the aesthetics sorted, things got kicked into gear with the performance modifications, with an aim to give the car the power output to match its beastly looks.

Heavy Duty Engine Block

Forced induction was always the plan. But to fortify the engine block in preparation for the added boost, Factor X Engineering was called upon to completely overhaul the engine. Every element of the motor was given an upgrade, including bored cylinders to increase the overall displacement of the C30A V6 to 3180cc, an increase of 201cc over the factory unit.

Boost For Days

The block ready take on the task of putting down massive power, it was time to introduce the Garrett GT3582R turbo to the mix. With massive improvements to the fuel delivery system and robust intercooler, the turbo is programmed to create 20 lbs of boost. An HKS F-CON V-Pro engine management with 32×32 cell resolution helps the system work together for an overall output of 612 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque, as measured on the dyno.

Keeping Up With The Extra Power

To withstand the added grunt, the drivetrain had to be given an upgrade as well. The transmission was upgraded to an NSX-R unit. An RPS single-disc clutch is at work, and the power is routed to the rear wheels through an OS Giken Super-Lock limited-slip differential. To slow the Blue Devil down, AP Racing 4-Piston brakes have been installed at all four corners.

Cabin To Match

And that brings us to the interior upgrades. Inside the cabin, Paul opted for custom leather upholstery with blue accents to match the exterior. Pioneer DVD head unit takes the center of the dashboard. A pair of Alpine V12 amplifiers, Alpine speakers, and a 12-inch subwoofer make sure music can be enjoyed at the highest level inside the small NSX cockpit. A Momo steering wheel, Sabelt 4-point harnesses, and DEFI gauges also add to the experience of driving the widebody Acura.
