Announcing Team Screw the Weather - I'm Flying Topless, dedicated to fostering the practice of driving topless in all types of weather.

If you wish to become a member of Team SWIFT, please submit your application in this thread for consideration. Requirements for membership are as follows:
  • Applicant must demonstrate a willingness to forgo the convention of using their vehicle's 'roof' for protection from weather, noise, and flying gerbils.
  • Applicant must affirm that fewer than 10% of the miles driven in their convertible have been in the 'top up' configuration. Special consideration will be given to those in extremely wet climates who drive a ragtop as a daily driver on a case by case basis.
  • Special consideration may be given to recovering 'toppers' on a case by case basis.

Team SWIFT - since 2/22/2002 and 14 members boardwide!

Since my car's not a convertible, I think I'll have to do this literally. Every one close their eyes.

Do you think having a tonneau cover will make this an easier venture....or does it disqualify you from being a member?

No - far from it! In fact, a tonneau merely help to demonstrate ones resolve in Flying Topless. Other such accessories include:
  • A passenger blanket
  • A pack of scrunchies for those 'surprise' female passengers
  • A bottle of sunscreen
  • Extra cold weather gear (jacket, gloves, scarf etc) in case the weather changes suddenly
  • Earplugs

Basically, as long as it's not a roof you're golden. Shall I consider that an application for membership?

There is video of my resolve, but this post should be dedicated to Tedster: He is the verbal Scholar who repeats "If the storm doesn't have a name, the top is down."

Actually, you may find yourself inducting most of the Seattle owners de facto.

I haven't actually been caught with the top down in the rain yet, but does turning up to play golf with frost on the ground at -5*C with the top down qualify me for membership??

It was around 2 or 3*C in central Tokyo when I left home, so thought WTF? however, I didn't allow for the fact that it gets colder as you drive north into the rural areas..... only a two hour drive and my ears have just about thawed out now (3 weeks later!!!!!)
