Modification/Upgrade Inventory (with pictures)
Many pics are sourced online, and some are my own.

MODIFICATIONS AND UPGRADES:

Honda S2000 CR Parts:

- 2009 Honda s2000 CR Wheels
Picked these up off CL from an S2ki member. Previous wheels were aftermarket 16s that came with the car. This brought the car back to stock wheel/tire specs. Also the wheels came with Star Specs, and were a significant upgrade from wrongly sized 16" all-season tires.

44700-S2A-A61 - Front 17x7

- 2009 Honda s2000 CR Front/Rear Sway Bars
Picked up a front/rear CR sway bar with bushings from friends on s2ki. Paired with the OEM AP2 suspension, a noticeable improvement in handling was immediately evident. My impressions. There is a subtle difference driving with the new bars. I notice this not in a dramatic "oh-wow-my-car-feels-different" way, but more in a stability sense. Also, the "difference" in feel made me hesitant to push it. THe car felt "foreign" in a weird way, like I'm not used to this! And believe me "push" is a relative term, I was going FAST. I didn't test the limits of over/understeer. I was driving really smooth lines and not powering through/out turns in a jerky way that would initiate oversteer. Going from bald to treaded tires always offsets that mental caution that comes about regarding oversteer, but I felt more confident that the rear would not step out.

In a certain sense, the car felt a bit like when I used to have the star specs (which have that incredibly thick sidewall). I was thinking that thick sidewall, combined with the little extra grip of sticky tires could mimic the benefits of a swaybar, in certain senses. Or perhaps just the added stability just reminded me of what it's like to drive with the sticky tires. Either way my mind kept saying "wow this feels like the star specs". Of course this feeling is confounded by going from bald-new tires.

I noticed an overall increase in sense of stability. IT's hard to describe it beyond that. I was trying to think of turns where it was more pronounced. But honestly, its equally noticeble/subtle in all turns. Opposite/off-banked turns do feel like there is less wash out and opposite roll. Perfectly banked turns make me feel like I'm riding on glue.

- 2008 Honda s2000 CR springs/shocks
After a profitable insurance settlement, I purchased the last set of assembled CR spring/shocks in the USA from Hard Top Guy. A dramatic improvement in handling over the AP2 100,000+ mile suspension I was using before. Basically better in every way with no drawbacks.

- 2009 Honda s2000 CR Alignment
To match my CR-spec suspension geometry, USA CR-spec alignment was used, set up by Orlando at Auto Innovations in Milpitas.

Rear:
-1.50 degrees camber
0.22in (5.5mm) total toe in

- 2009 Honda s2000 CR Floormats
A nice little gift I received during the holiday season. Only gripe is that my peg legged passengers have effectively deformed the passenger mat from bracing themselves during touge runs.
83600-S2A-A01ZE - Floor Mat Set

- 2009 Honda s2000 CR Sidemarkers

These look great with LED bulbs behind it.

- 2009 Honda s2000 CR Radio door
Santa left this under the Christmas tree during the 2012 holiday season. It later inspired me to hunt down a CR center console.
77252-S2A-902ZG

- 2008 Honda s2000 CR Center console
Picked up this center console from an s2ki member parting out a totalled CR in Los Angeles. The price was so good I'm not even going to say it.
83403-S2A-G51ZD - Garnish Around Buttons
77232-S2A-A51ZD - CR cup holder/lid assembly

- 2008 Honda s2000 CR Steering rack stiffeners
Picked these up used from a member on the forums. Noticed an increase in steering feel, most noticeable over bumps and uneven surfaces in the car. More bumps are felt throughout the steering wheel and the cabin IMO.

53437-S2A-S00

Aero Parts:

- APR GTC-300 Wing (61") S2000-specific

- APR GTC-300 gurney flap (61")

- APR GTC-300 3" risers

Performance Parts:

- K&N FIPK2 Intake
The K&N FIPK2 Intake was going to be the only performance modificaiton that I did to the car. It was a gift I purchased for myself after completing my third year of graduate school, singifying my last year of academic coursework, ever! After much research, this appeared to be the best bang-for-the-buck performrance modification that woudln't risk ruining the engine (i.e., hydrolock). Also, I wanted to keep my car street legal, and this intake is CARB ceritified. Dyno's of the Ap1 s2000 show this unit with +9.5 horsepower at the point of vtec engagement so who knows. I'm willing to say there's defintely might be a little change in the powerband. The 'deep throaty howl' noise is the most noticable change after this part was installed. Throttle response was also slightly improved.

- Comptech Ap1 Exhaust (with custom beefier hangers)
There was always something wrong with the quietness of the s2000 exhaust. Bravely, Darren and I attempted installing this exhaust ourselves one evening. The process was fairly simple, because its a direct bolt on. The pesky rubber hangers and stubborn exhaust bolts/studs are the only thing to worry about if you ever attempt this job. The Comptech exhaust weights significantly less than the OEM exhaust set up (making up for some of the weightgain from my stereo). The exhaust sounds beautiful, has very little drone, and is not an annoying rattlecan. To date, I have never been pulled over because of excessive noise.

- Comptech Ap1 Header
The design is a 4-1 header, with no heatshield. As a surprise gift for birthday/Christmas/anniversary, she purchased the part for me. I had it installed immediately. The header quieted the exhaust pitch and drone considerably. There is a more noticeable top end power in a linear fashion. It pulls hard up to 8,000 RPM now. Also the first 500k of vtec has a raspier engagement sound. My Comptech header is unique because the stainless finish has been sandblasted off by the previous owner.

- Asura High Flow Cat
2011 Registration came in the mail, and it turned out I needed a new cat to pass smog. What better time to upgrade to a high flow cat! It just had to be done. The customer service at this company was completely horrid, but I did finally get the part on my car. The high flow cat, reduced the minimal drone that existed on low RPMS, and added a throatier "open" sound to the exhaust, without producing the stink that a test pipe would produce. It could pass a sniffer test on emissions, but not the visual test.

Stiffening Parts:

- Exedium Gold differential collars
I notice a more sharp/quick, instant/immediate, and direct/connected throttle response than before. I wouldn't call the change dramatic, it is subtle, but noticeable. This review is based on freeway and street driving. I can confirm "no real noticeable difference in cabin noise or vibration".

It's interesting because the "throttle response" that the K&N intake added was in terms of pedal feel and engine rev. The "throttle response" that the diff collar added was more in terms of connectivity to the road. Same term, totally different part and function.

Engine parts:

- Gladman Performance Engine Heat Shield

- Billman TCT (Timing Chain Tensioner)
Many know that the s2000's timing chain tensioner can go bad, causing a nasty sound, which sounds like a playing card fluttering in bicycle spokes. Luckily, a genious mechanic out of NY has developed a modification for the exact problem.

Some stereo stuff:
I enjoy sound quality. Having an OEM Honda s2000 sound system was not an option for me. The same day I got the car I took it immediately to Auto Sound and Security, In Redwood City, California for a sound system to be installed. I had already designed the system before I got the car, and I encouraged the gentlemen at the stereo shop to infuse their creativity into the design process. Half of the equipment used, including amp, capacitor, and subwoofer, were removed from my previous car.

My priorities were:

- Maintain "some" sufficient practical and useable trunkspace

- Maintain full use of spare tire

- Prevent subwoofer from ever being punctured during everyday use
