… Saturday May 11th 2013 - Officially 145 miles and 3.5 hours of drive time during the drive.
… Welcome to the FIRST drive of our 2013 Summer Season! This trip is going to be a revisit to the same area we finished with last year that will take us through beautiful southwest Washington state but will allow for a different feel due to a fresh spring season! The drive is going to be equal parts fun roads and scenery. It should be the perfect way to stretch your cars' legs and get back into the swing of things after a season off and before we start tackling some of our bigger trips (coming soon!). Our travels will start out on a familiar jaunt up Hwy 14 along the Columbia River Gorge
Once we get off the highway, we'll start winding up into the mountains through some of the greatest hill-climing roads in the area!

Our drive will have us traveling past beautiful views of Lake Merwin throughout.
…
We are still debating on a picnic lunch opportunity this time, weather permitting. If the weather doesn't want to cooperate, we will make due with a restaurant in the area. We will keep you updated to those options.
...
We should have some nice views of the leaves beginning to turn as we wind through the trees We will stop off at Yale Lakefor a photo op as in years past.
…
Its all over when we reach where everyone is free to break off and head south back to Portland at their leisure.
I did this drive last summer in the other direction and there are some pretty amazing sections. When we turned off highway 90 onto NF-90, shortly down the road there was either a police station, forest services station, or just a little general store, with 3 or 4 cops parked outside. Needless to say we were lucky no one was really on it, including the extremely loud and quick MR2 turbo that was with us. Just wanted to let you guys know that its there and there usually some law enforcement individuals hanging out.
