->My URGE build<- DYNO RESULTS PAGE 4!
I figured it was time to start my own build thread. I've been a long time S2Ki member (member #13 actually). I'm on my third S2000, second boosted S2K but this is my first turbo build.
Unfortunately, last July my motor popped. Looks like maybe my fuel pressure dropped, piston 1 melted and the rings let go Luckily the block and crank were not damaged.
It took me a while to gather the funds for a rebuild, but that gave me time to figure out what route to go. I thought about another OEM shortblock, but didn't want to end up in the same situation down the road. I decided to go with a built shortblock for peace of mind.
I knew I wanted one of the big names to do the rebuild. I was considering Inline and Laskey, but after talking with Patrick at URGE Designs, I decided to go with their shortblock (I have nothing bad to say about Inline or Laskey, I just liked URGE's philosophy of building for longevity. I also liked that they send the block to Darton for the sleeving.)
Patrick has been great answering all my (somewhat noob) questions and walking me through the build process. I'm stoked with all the quality parts going into my motor.
On to the good stuff....specs and pics!
Shortblock
Custom Billet steel I-Beam rods
7/16" rod bolts
Wiseco 10:1 pistons (ceramic coated tops) - will still be running 91 pump
Lightened shaved OEM 2.2L crank
Darton "open" sleeves
OEM bearings
Turbo kit
Full-Race prostreet turbo kit
Garrett GTX3576R
Tial wastegate and bov
FB 74mm throttle body w/port matched OEM intake manifold
Fuel & misc.
Fullblown dual pump hanger with 2qty FB340 pumps
-8an feed line / -6an return line
Aeromotive FPR and inline filter
Fullblown fuel rail
ID2000cc injectors
Okada coil packs
Hondata K-Pro
Drivetrain
Stock trans
Stock diff
Clutchmasters FX400 6 puck sprung clutch
Hasport diff mounts
My goals are to safely run 15psi on 91 pump. Eventually would like to do an E85 tune and up the boost to 20+psi. Due to the big rod bolts and internals, I'll be safely revving my 2.2 to 9500rpm (I have a built head as well)
Photoshoot about 2 weeks before she popped
Piston and cylinder wall damage
Block crated up before shipment to URGE
Block back at URGE after Darton sleeving
S2000 crank after being lightened/shaved
As it sits now, my block is still in Texas at URGE. We are waiting for the pistons to come in then reassembly. I'd like to think she'll be back on the road in late May
