After seeing so many nice build threads I thought that I might as well post up about my car. This isn't much of build thread, more like tracking my changes along the way. It's not a large build, just lots of small changes over time. I think it is pretty clean and I'm happy with the current state of it.

It's a MY2002 ap1 with 108k kilometres, the engine was re-built about 6,000 kms ago due to self-destruction of the original motor (main bearings). It runs like a top now. I've owned the car for just over 4 years. I don't have much in terms of engine or suspension mods. On the engine I have a Mugen header, J's Racing Throttle body, Okada coils, J's Racing snorkel. Suspension is stock.

Progress pics shown below, I'm pretty much done with my mods and I'm going to start enjoying it more.

This is pretty much how it looked when I first got the car minus the oem hardtop, I added the OEM black hardtop shortly afterwards.


I didn't like the condition of the original black seats, the previous owner let them dry out and crack. I found a local member selling Suzuka blue seats which were almost brand new (1000 miles only), so I snapped them up and I started the transformation to a black and blue interior theme. I had to add some blue accent parts to blend with the blue seats. A got a few JPM Coachworks leather upgrades - Leather armrest, shift boot, door card inserts, e-brake cover, steering wheel, sunvisors. I also added the pwdjdm carbon fiber center console cover. My buddy jordanksartell upgraded my instrument cluster to LED lighting, I went with amber coloured tach and red coloured speedo, fuel gauge, and temp gauge. LED cluster lighting is really hard to capture accurately in pictures, you can see a bit of it in one of the interior shots below.






I changed up the shift boot recently - JPM Coachworks piece



I added Spoon brakes and drilled KVR rotors, with Carbotech 1521 pads and braided stainless lines, & 20mm spacers to get the wheels to clear the calipers



I changed to ap2v2 rims, and eventually changed to ap2v3 rims. I had the oem hardtop colour matched and added a shorty antenna.



I then brought home a stray Mugen CF hardtop , lol











J's snorkel, Spoon Rad, Samco hoses, pwdjdm stays, ASM strut bar, custom chrome plug cover, alloycraft heatshield, and Okada coils added underhood






I wanted to make sure my new motor didn't die an early death like the factory one - AEM Oil Pressure gauge and sensor added.



I recently switched to JDM OEM Ap1 BBS rims, I had them refinished
with custom decals




I recently added the oem trunk cargo net,Ricks Headrest windblockers with custom decals, Spoon rearview mirror. I have an etched S2000 logo on factory windscreen. I installed a Honda first aid kit, fire extinguisher and a Honda JDM road flare .








I added rear speakers to get more sound, along with a Sony Xplod head unit, Alpine Type R component door speakers, and Modifry DCI with variable speed volume. Excuse the dirty pic, that was taken as soon as I finished the installation, fingerprints everywhere in that one , lol





In winter storage right now - a bit dusty . I have an Ap2 rear bumper that I'm using with an oem CR exhaust. I hope to be the first to have a UK exhaust mod done on an oem CR exhaust in a couple weeks, it should sound better. I put on JDM Honda NSX emblems front and rear.


I just added a Braille 17 lb AGM battery, it should work as well as my Optima yellow top but it weighs 9 lbs less.

My favourite stage was the AP2V3 rims with the Mugen top.

 

Mine was actually the V3 with the OEM hardtop. Cars looks great with either one regardless. Great build!

I do agree that the ap2v3 rims looked best, probably my favourite rims in terms of appearance. I couldn't resist the lower weight of the JDM oem ap1 BBS rims though, the ap2v3 rims just felt "heavy".

 

Unfortunately I am done tinkering with it bud !. Time to start enjoying it more and just drive it.

Everyone says to lower the height but I don't think I will touch the suspension unfortunately, though it would look better.

 

are cars are almost twins haha, I love the look of the bbs wheels, I noticed a pretty decent difference as well after slapping the oem bbs's on mine as well. I figured im going to log a few more miles on mine and have em refinished just like yours in the future (except with the silver barrel). Keep her clean man and enjoy it!

how do you like the carbotech 1521 pads? Do they squeal in regular city street driving? Do they have better bite/heat tolerance vs stock? Im looking to get some new pads with better heat tolerance and I dont plan on swapping in between pads like some may suggest because quite frankly I dont track enough to get the full use out of race dedicated pads. Im considering the winmax W3/w4 or the project mu HC800+, still not to sure which im going to go with.

Carbotech 1521's are awesome street pads, I love them. They don't squeal, no noise at all, initial bite is better than stock, low dusting. They can tolerate all the heat I can throw at them on the street with zero fade. But they are not recommended for track use according to the listing on Carbotech's website. I don't track the car.

Carbotech has the AX6 which is an autocross pad, it could work well on the street and light track duty but they claim to have more dust and noise . I haven't tried anything other than their 1521's though. Check out their product listing at http://www.ctbrakes.com/brake-compounds.asp
