Default S2000 Projector differences

Okay so everyone knows s2000 projectors are some of the best out there.

There is actually 3 different versions ap1, ap2, and 06+ ap2.

I recently bought a 2007 s2000 and I don’t really like my cutoff. It’s not that sharp and doesn’t have much color.

I was thinking about swapping out my projectors with ap1. Has anyone ever done that?

Here is where I found out the information. (Along with pictures)

S2000 Projector Differences

Ap1 Sharp/traditional step. (04-05 is similar)

Ap2 06+ Triangular/slope step thing.. not as sharp.

That explains why mine (07) didn't seem as sharp as my brother's s2k (05)......doesn't sound like a cheap swap. Good luck.

Well TRS sells ap1 projectors for $325 and I can probably sell my ap2v2 projectors to help offset the cost.

It’s not a huge deal, but I do want a sharper cutoff line and traditional step vs the new one.

The 06+ projectors have a different part number?

Just checked on Majestic Honda and it is different part numbers for 04/05 headlights vs 06/07/08/09.

I noticed a difference between my '05 and my '07. The '05 definitely had a sharp cutoff along the top edge of the light pattern and, on a dark road, didn't light up anything above the cutoff or at further distances.

The '07 has a "softer" edge that lights up further down the road and lights up street signs much further away. As the '05 would go over bumps at night, the upper edge of the light seemed to "bounce" up and down which I found annoying and this isn't noticeable on the ''07 with it's softer upper cutoff edge.

The cutoff difference is probably not very noticeable to anyone except the driver and then I only noticed it in back to back drives when I had both the '05 and the '07.

It's purely personal preference but I like the '07 pattern better as I like the longer distance it seems to light up.

Others may differ in their opinions!

We should post pictures to compare and contrast the cut off so people understand.

Good info jetboater. I find the same issues you mention, and it's especially an issue on winding mountain roads where my vision is restricted during left turns, especially climbing lefts. I need a car ahead of me if I want to see what I'd see in most cars with the high beams on.

I was hoping that it was just a matter of angling the high beam up and left a bit, but AP2V2 lights may be a better solution in general. I suspect the V2 lights also reduce the "flashing" that oncoming traffic or cars ahead of me perceive if they really do have a softer transition
