Default Trunk entry

So let's say hypothetically I was a complete dumbshit, and shaved the keyhole from my trunk and then closed the trunk without the connector plugged in for trunk release. Could I get at the trunk to hit the emergency child release latch from inside the car somehow? Hypothetically?

perhaps, after removing the seats and all interior panels behind them. provided you didn't shave keyholes from the doors & lock your keys in the car

lol no I can get into the car just fine. Agghhhh. I suck. Can anybody confirm exactly what I'd need to do? If that situation hypothetical happened at some point in the future?

remove all the plastics behind the seat, and the rear bulkhead, and the roll hoops, and then the spare. then the top would have to go up, and then you wiggle. i would imagine its possible, seats out. if you cant, then i'd start by bribing small children with candy to help you. i cant imagine that going badly.

i think you can probably do it without removing the seats but theres very little space to work with. I remember being able to see the trunk when i was installing my fuel pump without removing seats. The top has to be up and you have to remove the interior pieces that sit on top of the thing that the soft top sits on. Take a flashlight and some kind of coat hanger or something that can reach and grab on to the latch. You might also be able reach it by removing the spare as well. But again... theres very little room

Go to home depot and by that 3ft reachy grabber and remove the plastics and soft top tray and maybe you can get it

All you need to pull is the rear shelf, and the rectangle panel above it.

Then you can pop the spare tire cover.

Hold a bright light in there for a minute, it will charge up the glow-in-the-dark trunk release.

When does Billman find time to post 17K+ posts and do all the other things he does?! He must have an assistant who does all the reading and typing for him.

Got in. Just like Billman said, I removed the rear deck and the panel above it, pushed the spare cover off, and hit the trunk release with a piece of PVC. It was quite interesting to get the rear deck out of there with the top on the car. Lots of up and down. All sorted now, though. Thanks again. Here's a pic for your troubles.
