Default BEWARE: Aftermarket Clutch disk

Hi everyone

Just wanted to give an FYI to what we've been seeing a lot lately. S2ks coming in with pre-mature clutch failures from aftermarket clutches sold online/ebay etc.

The springs on the disk are failing before the clutch material is all used up. So beware when buying a new clutch to look at the spring/hub design.

Look at the spring protection from Honda friction disk HUBs vs the one above.

Our Ballade Clutch kit uses the Honda Hubs on the disk for this reason.

Cheers, Thanks for viewing.

Did you guys redesign your clutch kit? The pics in your clutch thread look like the eBay disks: https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/993...na-clutch-kit/

Yeah we did. That thread was in the beginning stages of our clutch. We ended up redoing a lot of clutch jobs because of that issue.

As someone who recently bought Alex's clutch kit and flywheel, I can vouch for what he's saying. In fact, when I made the visit to pick up the clutch parts, there was an S2000 in his garage that had a clutch disk spring failure. He showed me the actual disk and one of the springs was just destroyed. I could also tell that there was a decent amount of clutch material left on it.

Going from ACT to Ballade Sport's clutch kit, it removed the annoying buzzing noise during deceleration in gear, and the clutch feel is so much softer... God, I hated that ACT clutch. (installed by prev. owner)

100% satisfied. You should also let him install it unlike me who decided to tackle it on myself and ended up spending 20 hrs on it lol

it's very common for the springs to break out in non-oem disks, i had it happen to two different clutches in my integra.

It is a worthy investment to get the whole assembly.
I'm glad I went with Alex's recommendation and bought his kit.

I had this happen twice on my old integra. Great to see a local shop make a solution to this problem.
