Default Lanc3rx_ Build Thread

Hey everyone, What's up? I've been a long time lurker for many years and have never made a single post anywhere on any forum before. I'm currently on my 2nd s2k and decided it was time to share my current endeavors on building something different in the s2k world. So before I start, just wanted to apologize for the shitty cellphone pictures lol

Humble Beginnings...
I used to own a 02' SBM back in 2006, had that car for a short period of time until it was totaled. I wanted another s2k badly immediately after that, but ended up with an 02' E46 M3 instead. Over the next several years, I started to miss driving an S. I would often look for one but never really pulled the trigger because I was searching badly for an 04-05 RYP. I searched many months with no luck. It was either too high of mileage or too high on price.

Then on July 23rd, 2012...I came across a super clean 07' GPW with every option minus the OEM top. Went to go check it out immediately and next thing you know? I pulled that trigger...

I wanted to keep things simple and maintain the car the best I could while slowly changing things I didn't like, such as the oem sound system. So the first thing she received was a new Pioneer DEX-P99RS headunit along with a set of Morel Elate 3-way speakers...

The daily drive started to become like a dream each day since the S was such a joy to drive especially now with music sounding so awesome!

Shortly after, I came across a set of used HKS Hipermax III Sport at a deal I couldn't resist. So I snatched them up real quick! Installed them sometime after...

The Unthinkable Happens
After about 1.5 years of trouble-free smiles, I got into an accident on Dec. 29th, 2013. It was heartbreaking to say the least, especially just days before the New Year started. Way to end the year

Fortunately State Farm pulled through and there weren't any major damages to the car. So began the revival process.

The Comeback
Initially, I just wanted to bring her back to her original condition. All new OEM parts and a fresh coat of Grand Prix White was all I had in mind. I was supposed to take her to one body shop, but was highly recommended to take her to Nick @ NP Autocare. We got her a new passenger side headlight, fender-liner, bumper, and hood. I decided also that now would be a good time to just get my fenders rolled/pulled for the future.

Nick wanted to extend my fenders so that I would have extra clearance since I liked to ride so low. So we chopped up my front fenders and extended them about 25mm...

Now that the front was "wide", it was kinda funny to look at from the rear-to-front view. So we decided to make the rear wider as well. Then came the opportunity. It was decided that since we're going to cut up the rear quarter, I wanted to be able to fit wider wheels/tires in the future. This was the beginning of the path to craziness! I didn't know what to expect because I've never done/seen this type of body work before. The ones I did see were horrible. So I already had a bad impression to begin with. So I started to search for examples of other cars that I did like and we went from there...

The Evolution
The idea was to create an OEM but aesthetic look. She had to look strong but subtle at the same time. So we began by test fitting a "wide" wheel such as this...

Work Meister S1 19x10.5 +23 with I believe a 235/35 tire stretched onto it...

The goal behind this was to get an idea of how much wider we would need to build the rear fender. I wanted to fit a wide wheel along with a wide tire. I wanted to keep tire stretching to almost none at all. She had to look good and still be able to drive hard. So we did this next...

Slowly But Surely
Unfortunately, the extra body work just didn't happen overnight and finished within a couple of weeks. Other jobs had to be completed in between so she sat and waited. As she waited, I began to develop this thirst for more. I started finding more flaws. Such as the common soft-top tear on the passenger side. Sooooooo I went ahead and bought this from King Motorsports...

The Mod Bug Hit
So it's around June 2014 now and my rear fenders are nearing completion. I placed a deposit down for a new set of wheels from Japan along with several other items. Here's how she sat...

The rear fitment was super easy, I was being conservative when I spec'd them out (should've gone more aggressive ) however the front didn't fit so well. This prompted for the continuing of the widebody! So we had to re-do the front fenders.

Act 2 w/Front Fenders
So we chopped the front fenders again...

I'm running a 255/35 in the front, did not wanna stretch tire. Again, the goal was to have the aggressive look AND still be able to corner hard.

Hey man! Let me be the first to welcome you to South Florida! Awesome to see another wild build take shape down here. Be sure to check out the South Florida sub forum. Your car is looking pretty crazy so far, and I hope to see it in person at one of the meets going forward. Again, welcome!

Hey buddy, thanks! Yah, I hope to be more active in the community. I usually just dance to my own beat.

But I hope to come around soon and start hitting up the meets in the near future!

Changing It Up
As much as I liked the OEM bumper, I felt it was too tamed for the widebody. There are a lot of options when it comes to bumpers for the S2k, but I wanted to go the path least traveled. So I pulled the trigger on a new bumper from ICB Motorsports
