I like the look of this setup. Any data on your set up or just buttdyno? Also did you insulate your air box when you gutted it? You installed the reflective tape on the outside just wondering if you did anything on the inside? Does J's make a snorkel that fits the oem hood or just their style hood? Thanks for sharing your setup.

After installing a vented hood, the entire top of the oem intake box remains quite cool now, combined with the snorkel the intake system temps are much lower. The entire intake is cool all the way up to the throttle body. The J's Racing Type-S hood and replicas work really well at keeping the intake box much cooler. Not a very cost effective upgrade, but I like the results.

^That is great to know. Do you do any type of tracking with your car?

Im going to try and dyno a stock intake with a high flow filter and snorkel on it soon and do a comparison with the intake i made and see the difference. Ill post up as soon as i have compared the 2
That would be awesome. The intake is kinda of a grey area I'm finding. So many configurations people have, whether being custom or off the shelf parts. Also many assumptions on gains and very few people with little hard data. Or data that is mixed with other parts like exhaust, testpipe, etc. Gernby's data is very interesting but I would love to see what he is running now intake wise.
I built the same intake as dc5, used the other half of his piping for mine actually. About a year and half ago I dynoed my car then redynoed about a month ago with the changes being 70mm HFC to a test pipe, PRM intake to 3.5" custom intake. Car went from 210 to 226whp SAE. Tq went from 149 to 161 as well. Different dynos on different days but they were the same type of dyno at least with similar weather conditions.

Also intake temps with the custom intake seem to be about 8 degrees higher than what the ambient temperature is. So if it is cold out ur intake temps will deff be cold too

It's not a snorkel, but custom NACA duct intake setup with intake manifold pressure and IAT data:

Do you mind sharing what you purchased to make the intake? I have been considering DIY making a 3.5" intake but am not sure what would be the best option for the piping. Purchasing bends and taking it to a shop to weld could get a little pricey vs. just buying a "kit" and using what you can. Does your filter sit behind the fender liner?

I bought the extra piping from dc50818 so I don't know exactly what It was but he said it was a 3.5" inter cooler piping kit. I needed to cut about 1.5" off one side of the elbow and 1" on the straight piece to get everything to fit how I wanted.

I used:
1 3.5" 90* elbow
1 3.5" straight piece
2 90* rubber couplers
Blox velocity stack
AEM dry filter
1 reducer for the throttle body. Don't remember the size but want to say 3.5-2.75"

Wow thanks a lot for those pics! It looks pretty straightforward in terms of literally a 90 and a straight 3.5" piece of pipe. Only question now is whether it'd fit w/ my brake ducts..
