3/12 Libations and Lunch in Albany
UPDATE 3/11/2016 to add itinerary:
11:30 AM at Druthers Albany 1053 BROADWAY ALBANY, NY 12204
Points to note:
- Parking should be on the street.
- At Druthers, I'll ask for them to do separate checks. If not, we will just split the check between ourselves.
================================================== ================================================== =======================================
So I watched this video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OyBSrBqogPY
and then I read this article that says:
A crowd gathered at Gobbler's Knob early this morning, awaiting the emergence of the groundhog named Punxsutawney Phil. After a tap of a cane on Phil's tree-trunk cage, his door was opened, and the animal emerged.
He was held aloft to cheers and applause. Phil did not respond, other than to blink. Placed on top of the trunk, he attempted to flee before his actions were closely analyzed.
Interpreting Phil's behavior, the Groundhog Club emcee proclaimed, "There is no shadow to be cast! An early spring is my forecast!"
He added, "Take your jackets off, you're not going to need them!"
I did as the emcee ordered, but it was 30 degrees outside this ayem, and I think I caught a cold walking from my distant parking space to work.
But leaving that aside, I am proposing that we as a community get together for Libations & Lunch. We did this back in 2013 and had a great time
So I'm proposing that we try to get together again. It will be nice to see old friends and plan out the season ahead. I'm hoping we can make this happen.
I'm thinking we can meet for breakfast at Wolff's Biergarten and then headover to either the Pump Station or to Druthers Brewing Company which is also close by. OR we could just meet at Albany Distilling Company for a tasting and then head over to one of the other places, but I fear 'The Shirt' will be out of control once he imbibes the Ironweed.
Here is the info for the restaurants around which I intend to plan this meet:
WOLFF'S BIERGARTEN
http://www.wolffsbiergarten.com/albany-new-york/
895 Broadway, Albany, NY 12207
DRUTHERS ALBANY
http://www.druthersbrewing.com/locations/albany
1053 BROADWAY ALBANY, NY 12204
ALBANY PUMP STATION
http://www.evansale.com/
19 Quackenbush Square, Albany, NY 12207
So here's what you need to do:
1. Read the above and make suggestions if you have any.
2. Post-up and let us know you are coming.
3. Bring a plus one. Spouses and significant others are very welcome, so please indicate if you will have company
4. Commit to the date and show up because the fun is all in the numbers. Together we make an event successful. The guy organizing can't do jack without your support.
