Axle Nut (Noise) TSB...Part Numbers?

Default Axle Nut (Noise) TSB...Part Numbers?

What is the part number of the axle bolt that gets replaced when doing the TSB for the axle noise? Also, is there a spec # of a certain grease I am to use or is it just plain old grease?

Just a quick word about this. I did this 3 times and the noise went away for a week each time. The real solution is to replace the wheel bearings. Press the dealer to do a goodwill as I know many people that had the same issue.

the car has 70k miles, and the dealer has already given me a free clutch as a good will. i doubt they'll cover me for another free job. plus i cant really be without my car.

can you explain the process and parts i need? I may as well give it a shot first.

also, how much is a new wheel bearing (parts and install)?

90305-SD4-003 014_1 Honda NUT, SPINDLE is the part number i got online. All you do is jack up car, take off both wheels, pop off the center caps, put wheels back on. Drop car back to ground, make sure e-brake is pulled and car is in 6th, take off old axle nuts, grease back of new axle nuts put on and torque to 220 ft lbs then stake the new nuts.

What does it mean to stake the nut?

wheel bearing doesnt sound like a job i'd do myself.

I figured, but wanted to confirm. Is the nut cheap enough that trying this is worth while even if the real issue is the hub assembly?

How come you put the wheel back on and drop the car before retorquing the nut and restaking it?

Mine was done by the Honda tech (I didn't have a big enough tq wrench) and he pulled the wheel, unstaked, retorqued to 220, then staked again before replacing the wheel.

You can do either way I just find it easier with the wheel on

Is there any particular trick to unstaking the nut? or just a set of pliers?

I just used a flat head screw driver. Put it in the groove and twisted it, unstakes the nut real easy.
