Default Known issues with the Honda Element?

My Brother in Law is looking at used Elements. Are there any common issues he needs to be aware of?

Not much really breaks on them. The AC systems don't explode like CRV's.

There were a very few that had clogged heater cores/contaminated coolant, but it's fairly rare overall.

OMFG...an ELEMENT thread.

Ask folks who know me...they know I've used all of my Employee benefits for mental care on ELEMENT LOVE!!!

ELEMENT!!!

Anyways...I owned an '05 ELEMENT EX. Magnesium Metallic. 2WD. I bought it May 2005 for $19,XXX NEW and drove about 79k miles...WITH NEVER ONE SINGLE ISSUE OR PROBLEM and then sold it in November 2007 for $13,XXX.

Amazing, super capable machine. I miss the HELL out of my ELEMENT. But I grew out of it...a taste for the more "luxurious" side, I guess...something with more creature comforts...

What a great little ride. I would HIGHLY recommend an ELEMENT. Also, I opted for the 2WD because I knew I'd be driving frequently and the 2WD gets better gas mileage than the 4WD (AWD). The only thing you give up between 'em is the rear sunroof (big whoop). I consistently averaged 26mpg.

Here's a few photos of my old ELEMENT... I miss it!!

Also...I used it to fight Rebel Scum...

I have an 06 EX-P (p=painted fenders) Auto 4wd.
Unstoppable. Inexpensive. Could use more passing power, but that's not what it's about. Good, check that, GREAT solid reliable transportation. I've thought a couple times of getting another Mini Cooper S, but just can't lose the practicallity of the Element.

Downside, seats/belts for only 4, when you could put 3 across in the back. Again, needs 40-75 more hp. Looks like a ski-boot.

Seats and room are excellent. Wife thinks it's like a humvee. She calls it the HonVee.

Oh, I added some 17inch new civic si wheels. They fit with a little mod....
