Default Mis-aligned rear bumper

Is there any adjustment possible with the clips as one side doesn't quite follow the line of the rear light cluster and it protrudes about 3mm from where it meets the wing?

As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words, so these 2 should be worth 2000 words.

Looks like it's expanding with heat?

Don't mean to come across as eccentric, replying to my own posts, but I found some information about this, seems it's a common defect?

Has anyone rested on the bumper recently? You can adjust the fit by loosening the bolts where the bumper meets the top of the wheelarch and sliding the bumper towards the wheel slightly.

No, nobody has been near it, it's good to know you can adjust the fit from just loosening that one bolt (there's just the one right?), I think I might try that later when I get home.

The bumper is attached by a bolt and a screw on each side, but loosening the top bolt was enough to adjust the fit.

Remove the bumper (need to remove the rear lights to do it properly ) and repair the plastic lugs (superglue/plastic welding). Refit the bumper...job done

If the plastic lugs are broken, surely new ones are the only option?

They are part of the bumper itself. Whip it off to have a look, and all will be revealed

edit: I'm referring to the plastic retaining clips that sit in the bodywork of the car that the bumper bolts secure through.

If you're concerned about them being broken ( it's quite possible) and they may break when you remove them anyway, get new ones ordered before doing the job - they're going to be pennies. You can be sure that if you go to Honda needing them because you broke them, they won't have any in stock.

Same goes for the little trim clips that hold the bumper in place - worth having a bag of 20 just in case.
