Default Is there a DIY CR lip install?

I was wondering of anyone did a DIY thread(or something close) for the CR lip conversion on an AP2 non predilled bumper. If there is a thread on please post. Ive been searching for a while now, and I cant find it. I get my CR lip back on Tuesday if no one has done one, I think I might, thanks-Justin

I did it. I don't have lots of pics, but a DIY would be good with pics...
The way I did it was I installed the lip with gorrilla tape and the rear hardware at the wheel lip. I also firmly installed the lower hardware that bonds the lower edge of the CR lip to the bumper. It was easier to make sure everything was lined up with no gaps with the bumper still on the car.
I then removed the bumper with the cr lip taped and edge bolted on.

The holes to drill are tricky. You can eyeball it together, and drill a small 1/8 inch hole. You have to be close as there is little wiggle room. I then took a short bicycle spoke and stuck that in the hole I drilled to see which way I had to move the hole to center up with the CR clip nut. I used a dremel with a rotozip bit to slowly enlarge the hole and center it up on the clip nut, then used a 3/8 bit to make a final perfect hole.

I was lucky and nothing was oblonged or messed up and it came out perfect. Take your time with the holes you drill and as you slowly enlarge them, the nut and threads become visible for centering. But even if you do mess them up horribly, you are a fender washer away from covering it up and no one will ever see it.

Good luck.

Was drilling necessary? or could it be installed without the bolts that caused drilling?

There is a right way but there isn't a wrong way if it holds up. Ill be on the highway at 120 and this thing stays.

I'd suggest you use the bolts. There's about 18 bolts and clips I think that run over $100 list. I think they use that many for a reason. The lip produces a good amount of downforce, and you need the support.

Also, if I'm not mistaken, the AP2 bumper has markings and embossments on the inside for all the bolt holes. Evidence that Honda was planning the lip as early as 2004.
