We're OK Vic - thanks for your concern. Downtown Ringgold is pretty much not there anymore. The closest tornado touchdown was a couple of miles from us. I was looking at the damage on the way in to work and I'll be surprised if we have power before Monday.

Glad to hear that you are OK. We had a little rain. The storms seem to pass north and south of us.

A coworker who lived just north of Ringgold lost his house to the tornado last night while he and his family were in it. He said it lasted less than 10 seconds and when it was over about the only thing left were the closet they took refuge in and the washer and dryer. His truck ended up on its roof and they haven't located his wife's car yet.
He said the suction was so strong it sucked his shoes off.

Happy to read you dodged the bullet. Being without power for a few days provides a good excuse for a weekend getaway.
It's probably in poor taste to ask at this point, but considering it's me asking the question... Is my motel still standing, or should I make other arrangements?

Mike, good to hear that you are fine. We didn't have any tornado's in my area, but the wind and rain have been unending. Had a ligntning strike last Saturday that took out three TV's, the garage door opener, and one telephone. It actually moved 20# bolder's in my yard and dispursed pebbles all over the yard.

A tornado something I hope I never experience, sounds far more scarier than a hurricane(experienced quite a handful on coast of LA) I'm glad you guys are ok and will pray for those who lost lives & possessions.

Chickamauga was spared so you're good to go. Usually it gets hammered.
