I'd ask coolchrisuk about this. He's got a Toda TCT and is very au fait with the hole sizes/depths.

Rebore ? Sounds interesting. link ?

Thing is though, if the chain needs to be changed, then it needs to be changed.

After much waiting for Honda Europe to deliver a new sprocket for the timing chain, I finally have my car back and it's purring like a kitten.

Brayley gave me their usual S2KUK discount which reduced the price significantly, so to David and Victor there for that.

One other thing, Victor knows that I track the car and suggested that, as the sump was being removed as part of the job, I might consider obtaining a baffled sump and getting that fitted. I suspect most dealers wouldn't even think about such things so another for that.

Unfortunately Si at Hendy had sold all his stock but was extremely helpful in trying to track one down for me, to no avail.

I did manage to obtain one from Spoon Sports Europe who delivered overnight to Brayley who fitted it.

If you do want to do this, you'll need these parts

14510-PCX-005 TENSIONER, CAM CHAIN
14520-PCX-003 ARM, CAM CHAIN TENSIONER
14530-PCX-004 GUIDE, CAM CHAIN
14401-PCX-004 TIMING CHAIN
14210-PCX-004 SPROCKET, CAM CHAIN DRIVEN
As well as a few sundry bolts

90003-PCX-X000 BOLT, TENSIONER PIVOT

Dinner then a drive for me I think, I've really missed driving these last couple of weeks...

Oh, and thank goodness it's payday

Well, I can now hear all the other rattles and squeaks (if I turn the stereo down), so all is well with the world

Yoshi is on his 3rd TCT that's just gone again so we're booked in at Brayley on Saturday. Thanks for the chat on Tues Simon - it helped make up my mine where to take him and the heads up on additional parts.

I've been worried about driving him recently as it's getting quite bad so hopefully after this and our new rears .....

Apparently I'll be getting a green hybrid so that'll be fun

Harumph - 5 weeks and about 800 miles after having my new TCT fitted, and it's back to being as bad as the one that was removed :-(

Looks like chain and guides is the only option. Simon do you have the relevant section of the service manual? Curious to know how manageable it might be in the garage one weekend.

Section 6-15 for removal, 6-19 for installation - see the contents under "Timing Chain"

It's a horrid job...

If you have the time and ability to do this I would, Having done it once when I replaced the head gasket on my old car I would certainly do it myself if the need arises.
