Default Moddiction's winter/spring supercharger build thread.

Well nothing much exciting now but just figured I'd post up. A lot of things planned this winter and spring as I put together everything for my new setup.

I currently have the vortech v2 supercharger kit with aem ems, ID1000 injectors, hondata MAP sensor, larger heat exchanger,4" intake pipe etc.

Last spring I put down 406whp at Evans Tuning in PA on my stock AP1 engine at 12 psi (4" pulley) 93 octane gas fairly humid and 90 degree intake temps.
Put down 340 whp before that with the stock 7 psi pulley and all other mods the same as well the winter before.

That was with my HKS dual exhaust with lots of exhaust leaks and a 60mm test pipe.

Not much has changed since then but I do now have a Greddy spectrum elite dual exhaust and 70mm test pipe.

My engine still feels great but is burning lots of oil and smoking like crazy wot in boost so I plan to get a low mileage F22 engine and AP2 transmission.

I already bought a performance rebuild kit for th supercharger with high speed seal and bearings to be able to spin the blower faster as I was not too far from max speed I think.

I will also be testing out those woodruff cam keys to see what gains I get with them.

928 motorsports sells an upgraded vortech impeller which they said will push about 15-20% more air on the same size pulley so excited to get that and try it out.

I plan to get a 12-13 psi pulley and rev the f22 to about 8400 or so. With the upgraded impeller that should get me around 15 psi I would guess at 8400 rpms. Or somewhere close I that.

I'm also looking into which throttle body would be best for my setup to gain a few more hp. I am really hoping to make around 450whp on Evans dyno with the new setup and hopefully a nice bump in torque.
I made 240tq last spring so hoping with all the mods I can gain 20-30 ft lbs with new setup. Shouldn't be too hard considering I will be using the f22 now instead of f20.

Any suggestions to look into from the supercharged guys who have gone down a similar path?

400 hp has been fun but feel the need for a little more and decided to stay sc rather than turbo for now due to incredible reliability of my setup.

I'm very excited about your build since you and I have very similar sc setups. Especially the 928 Motorsports upgraded impeller.

Mine is:
AP1 F20C
Vortech V2
3.9" pulley ~13psi
RC750
SoS 3bar Map
405 whp

Like you I had some troubles with my exhaust setup. Two HFCs went bad and now I'm on a 70mm testpipe along with my 70mm dual exhaust.

I also loose much oil because the seals on my Vortech are probably gone. I will order the 928 Motorsports high speed seal kit and hope to sort this out.

Do you know how much faster you can spin the upgraded impeller? I almonst maxed out mine with the 3.9" pulley spinning nearly 50.000 rpm.

So is the moddiction car smoke caused by engine wear or the blower dumping oil into the intake?

How many miles on the moddiction ap1 motor?

Supercharger is too reliable to give it up. Been just as reliable as stock for 2 years now. Haven't even had to do any extra maintenance!

I spoke with 928 people on the phone. They didn't give me an exact rpm it could spin to but I asked them about 16-17 psi and they said it would not be over spinning it. It should hopefully still be efficient there with the upgraded impeller moving much more air!

My oil consumption is definitely from the motor. The sc is leaking some oil but there is no oil residue in the after cooler outlet or throttle body inlet so that's not the issue.

One of my cylinders the compression has gone down a bit between my last two tests. Used to be 227 across the board. Now one is at 205 psi. When adding oil goes back up to 227 so rings are on the way out I believe. I also have oil leaking from a valve guide seal I know.

Good luck Ryan. I look forward to seeing how you do. If you make 450 on evans' dyno, you'll be making the same power i am!

The F22 increased stroke should add some good torque and that other mod we know should add too.....I see 35 or 40 ft lbs more torque added easily.
