Default 2-Way Differential Daily Driveable?

Hi Guys,

I have been debating getting this Drexler LSD with my tax return money for a while now. From what I read it is very quiet while loading and unloading and runs flawlessly even in the rain. (Please don't explain to me why OSG is better and cheaper, I am set on the Drexler.) ASM/GoTuning sells this LSD for $6300, but I found that if I get the same specs as ASM from Drexler direct I can get the unit for a little less than $2500. I am probably going to get a ramp angle combo of 45/45.

I have searched the fourm and I havent came across anyone actually running this LSD. I wonder why? I also wanna make sure I know why the ASM one is $6300, and from Drexler direct its half that. (I know ASM RAPES people on prices so I believe it.. but just want to make sure.)

Also, do any of you guys run a 2way diff on the street? Is it safe as long as your not a noob (i.e. lifting throttle mid turn)? Also wondering why NO car comes stock with one?

Please let me know.

What are you trying to fix or accomplish with a 2-way LSD?

Not a big fan of the stock torsen. I would like to have more stable turn in, and mainly better control of my tail end.

I also want it because I like to have a little fun with the rear end on the street, but want something serious at the same time for the track/autocross. This is my weekend car, not my DD, but I still drive about 2-5,000 miles a year on the street.

ive noticed sometimes when i want to slide the rear out a little, when im making a 90 degree turn at low speeds and hit the gas, the inside wheel spins a little and then it grabs finally. I think something might be wrong with the diff.. I believe I'm running the recommended fluid made by redline. is this normal?

2-way LSD???
it will make you slide all over when you are turning fast (on and off throttle) and when you will be making U-turns your car will be hopping like a bunny.
If you really want a 2-way LSD I suggest welding the stock diff. 2-way or welded diffs are used for drifting or drag and most likely will make you slower on a road course.

Thanks for the info. Just curious.. how come the ASM s2000 laps tskuba in under a minute with a 2 way LSD? I understand an agressive ramp angle combo will make you spin intensively.. but even 45/45 or say 50on/40off setup?

Essentially does it not just limit the slip rather than cut out slip completely?
