Default Removable Soft Top?

Last night before I fall asleep, a wild idea appear in my head.
Would it be possible to convert the soft top to be removable?
I have a CR. I love the tonneau cover, but really don't like the idea to bring the hard top for long trips, and can't remove it during the trip.
I thought it would be awesome if I can use the hardtop hardware and put them on the soft top.
I don't care I have to manually put it up, had to do so with the hard top anyways.
What do you guys think, is it possible?
I haven't looked close into it, since the idea just came up last night
I am gonna go check out my friends base s2k on Thursday and get a closer look of the soft top.

If you or anyone you know, have done this already. please let me know. Would be greatly thankful

Porsche has done it on the Boxster Spyder, if someone made one for the CR I bet a lot of us would buy it.

Can you clarify with what you want? Maybe I can provide details.

You stated you don't want to take the hard top on long trips. You also want to keep the CR tonneau. So you can't fold the soft top into the back.

How will you remove the soft top on trips? Fold it into your trunk??

Yeah something like that.

I basically want a soft top that go on like my hard top.
I hope it will fit in the trunk after it folds up, but if not I can put it in my friends back seat or trunk.
this way say if we had a road trip, I don't have to worry about the rain, and still enjoy the open top

That would be amazing... I would buy one in a heart beat. We get so much rain in WA that it's tough for me to commit to leaving the HT off if I'm venturing farther than 30 minutes away from home. I'm not sure there is a large enough market for this though.

After comparing the base and CR model side by side.
Stage Auto and I decide that this project, and my plan is do-able.
I am now looking for a cheap soft top to mock things up.

If you guys know anyone is parting out the top for cheap, please let me know

I prefer a top with no rip and leaks, but don't want to pay too much just in case the project didn't turn out as I hoped

check out aftermarket light weight mesh style hoods for snowmobiles, this site has good top and inside photos. They can make them see thru or solid, with enough engineering you could make the aluminium frame fold up like an accordion, to put it in your trunk.

Did you remove your convertible top ? why not just put the top up ? Not really understanding why, but check out this site it might give you an idea
