Default Stock bonnet vented DIY style

I'm deciding if i should do the DIY vents, but concerned if they effect the look of the car also for me its needs to be functional too running an SC and placed in the correct location on the bonnet. I also don't run an aftermarket radiator but have a small FMIC so it might have some value, however obvious as it sounds its the rad's job to cool the engine.

The car is a silverstone, but can't decide on black vents or same colour as the bonnet.

Feel free to discuss which one of the pictures below looks good and the colour of the vents and vote.

These two are the ones i'm currently considering most..

I like this one, exactly like that with dark mesh.

I think you're brave asking this on this forum though with so many people who are so against modifying anything.

If you are going to chop into the bonnet - might I suggest you grab latest copy and if possible some back issues of the 'TrackDriver' freebie magazine. Some very good articles re airflow under and through engine bay using a racing RX7 as an example (http://www.trackdriver.com/). I'd always though the raised rear of the bonnet would work until I read the articles which suggest it won't have much affect due to airflow characteristics. If you are looking to vent heat while sat idling, that's another matter and I'd guess some 'chimney' vents over the exhaust side only would help that issue?

Thanks for your info.

Seen the raised bonnet at the rear done on other cars, i always thought it would work LOL. There's a little bit of reading here http://autospeed.com/cms/title_Under...2/article.html autospeed are usually very good and thorough - though Australian based

I voted for both sides because I have issues with symmetry

I like the symmetrical vents, but equally, I like louvres, I don't know how easy it is to do this, I imagine much harder than cutting a hole in your bonnet, but louvres work as they disrupt the airflow causing a low pressure zone and sucking the heat out. I imagine just cutting holes in the bonnet does do something, but louvres being more efficient.

Something like this?

Or this, but I like the more understated look personally! Looks more like it was factory design that way.

Stock means you've got lots of them right?
