Default Need Help, Pits in Cylinder head.

Here's the story, I bought a head off of a memeber here on S2Ki. He said it was in great condition and ready to be installed. I recieved the head (which was not very clean and covered in oil/coolant). Instead of getting messy, I took the head to a local shop that I was refered to. I asked them too look over the head and let me know if anything is wrong before doing work. I couldn't get them the valve seals because I ordered from Majestic and it took to long for them to get here. I told them to do the job since nothing was wrong and I'll take care of the seals.

I got the head back from the shop with a box that had the springs, seats, retainers and cotters in it. Valves were in the head since they did a valve job.

The box wasn't sorted. Everything was mixed together and a small bag with the cotters.

Question #1: Which one is the intake valve spring? (I think it's the one on the left, more coils)

Question #2: The shop did the work, but when I got it back Cylinder #2 looked like this. Is this ok to put on? it looks like they ground it down a bit because it's smooth, but still. I should have looked at the head first before taking it to the shop. I need to get my car going ASAP. What would happen if I used this head?

I'm pretty displeased right now. I was lied to by the person that sold me the head, and the shop seemed to do a terrible job on it.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Any thoughts? What would should I do, put it on and cross my fingers, or take it back to the shop?

The "pits" are fine as long as they are not on the sealing surface. Most likely caused from a piece of metal or broken valve bouncing around. how do the valve seats in cyl 2 look?

They look good. A valve job was done. I looked at them and it looks good. Thanks for replying, I feel much better now.

Longer springs are exhaust side. Do they have any paint markings?

Free length should be

Exhaust: 1.984" (50.39mm)
Intake: 1.959" (49.77mm)

I'd worry about hot spots in the quench area of that first picture.
