Default EPS code 32

my EPS light has been on and off randomly for a few months, and since yesterday, it hasn't remedied itself.

i tried the following things to see what the problem is:
  1. check battery terminals (clean as the battery is only a few months old)
  2. check battery (12.3V)
  3. check alternator (14.1V)
  4. torque sensor re-learn

i used the paperclip trick and pulled the EPS DTC code 32 (please watch the video to see if i read it correctly). would the next steps be to do continuity tests? reset EPS? please help. i would like my power steering back

edit: forgot to mention how i go about getting the EPS light. when i turn the car on, no EPS light lit. it's not until i move the steering wheel does the EPS light comes on. when i turn the car off and back on, the EPS light disappears but reappears when i turn the wheel again. the EPS light is not on from the moment ignition.

according to the helms manual, i should reset the DTC codes using the "service check signal circuit method" first, turn on car, wait 10 seconds and see if EPS light turns back on.

if it does, check EPS control unit for loose connectors. if problem persists, replace EPS control unit.

does that sound about right?

i tried resetting the entire thing by doing the steering wheel reset, disconnecting battery, and disconnecting and reinstalling the EPS unit but the same code 32 remains.

i even tried lightly tapping the EPS controller b/c some threads showed some success but that didn't work either.

should i just purchase a used EPS controller? i'm guessing most mechanics and dealers would get the same DTC 32 code and replace it as well.

It seems my car has the same problem. It started out with having intermittent EPS issues that would stop when I turned the car off and turned it on again. Now I have no power assit. I took it to my mechanic (certified Honda master tech, loads of experience, but like most Honda techs, has far more experience with accords and civics than S2000s), and he pulled a code 5 and code 32. He reset the EPS light, checked the fuses, and the light still came on and the car has no power assist.
Questions:
1. For those of you on the above thread, it seems replacing the EPS worked for you. Have you had any problems since then?

2. A new EPS unit from Honda is $1094! Some of you found them on Ebay for $69.00. How hard was it to find one? Are there any sellers you recommend?

3. If you don't mind, can you give me some history on your cars? My car has a modifry redline beeper, Gendron FSB, and I run a square set up with 225 dunlop star specs. I usally autocross at least once a month, but I haven't been lately. This is probably why the EPS went bad. My dog will usually chew a pair of shoes when I don't take her to the dog park for about a week. I would imagine my car feels the same way and is throwing a fit to get my attention.

If this is a problem with older s2000s, the more knowledge base we build, the more we can help other owners deal with this issue. If anyone else has information on Code 32 issues, feel free to reply.
Thanks,
James

I found a replacement EPS computer, got it installed, and now the steering is back to normal. One thing my mechanic mentioned was the odd location of the unit. It's right next the battery, which possibly exposes it to any chemicals, such as sulfuric acid, coming off the battery. It also may be exposed to water due to it's location on the fender. Does anyone know if there is a fix, relocate kit, or shielding for the computer? If so, would it be a good idea to make one. I would be hesitant to wrap it in something since it may need airflow to keep kit cool.
