Sad news everyone :(
Very sad news everyone. So I got into a wreck last Friday going north off 294 on my way to work. To make a long story short, I was on the farthest right lane and woman in a mazda suddenly merges right into my side causing me to fishtail going to the left. Mind you, we going at least 55mph. I crossed maybe 2 lanes at this speed when I started to try and have the car straighten back out but traffic was just going too fast and a truck nailed me right in the rear causing me to spin across 2 more lanes and the rear of the car finally coming to a complete stop after smacking into the middle median.
I first must say how thankful I am that I came out of this crash with just a minor headache. I was literally staring down all these cars coming straight at me when my car was crossing 4 lanes of traffic sideways going at least 55mph. As I think about it, I'm actually glad the truck hit me as it helped slow the force of the car going straight into the median. Instead it spun me around letting the rear take the force of the car and evenly distributing the force into my back of the chair. Airbags didnt go off mostly likely due to my speeds being slowed down dramatically after the truck hit me and as well as the rear being the main impact of the crash. Trust me, I was in so much shock after it was all said and done, I sat in my car for at least 5 mins before I decided to get out to gather myself. When I finally did, the woman who hit me sincerely apologized and admitted fault. I forgot to add, the woman ended up going sideways with me and crashed into the median as well but she was lucky enough that no one hit her on the way into the median. After seeing that she was ok, I wanted to get so mad at her but just glad we were all okay. The woman did admit fault in the police report as well.
I waited till now to post because I wanted to get all the insurance info and settlement taken care of before sharing. I am somewhat down about all this but more grateful I'm safe. I have State Farm and they contacted me today deeming it a total loss which I'm happy with the decision just because I did not want it repaired based on the damage. I am pleased with the amount that their writing off to me but of course I feel it should've been a little bit more just because of the personal attachment I had. I definitely would like to get another S but prices seem high for now since it's summer so I might hold off until the winter. Maybe upgrade to an NSX
... Cant afford it right now. LOL. Anyways, I'll still be lurking the forums as this site has helped me in so many ways and I hope I can give back to the newbies as well.
Major damage was in the rear and rear fenders. There was pretty much minor damages all around the vehicle as well though. The front doesn't look that bad so I was surprised it was actually totalled to be honest. Well, I was surprised to see the estimated cost of repairs they had given me. It came out to like $13K in repairs. Crazy but again I dont know the details to it yet.
