Default Damn you, Honda S2000...

Well, it's been a tad over 3 months since I sold my '06 LBP, and it's really starting to set in just how much I miss driving one. The STi that took it's place has been fun and extremely practical(1 year old), but it's been missing a lot. I keep thinking of the great memories I had in the S2000... having spent a year in an AP1 and six years in an AP2, I have made a TON of great memories with that car. The awesome top down driving on cool summer nights, the perfect feel of the seating position, pedals, steering wheel, and just how AWESOME the shifter is. I could probably go on for hours! The funny thing is, I don't exactly miss my old car, but I just miss the feel, sounds, looks of an S2000. Damn you, S2000, for being so freaking awesome.

Well, I recently started searching for the right car. I would most likely pick up an 08/09 in the right color, which would be GPW or BB. Not sure when it would happen, but it WILL happen.

Just thought I'd post about how this car has spoiled me in so many ways.

Knew it! Thanks for posting this because on a daily basis I find myself thinking about what next and selling my S2000 to get something else, just to have something different for a change. I have owned 2 S2000's now over the past 4 years. After reading this post, and the many like it is a great reminder to me that I need to keep the S2000, and work towards buying something to add to my garage, and not replacing the S.

A part of me is glad I ventured out to another car. Made me really see the light. Don't get me wrong, the STi is a wicked car, but it lacks a lot of the passion that's in the S2000.

Oh, and don't get me started on build quality... I look back on the S2000 interior, and am amazed at how perfect everything is, and just how solid everything felt.

Ahahahaha! I was wondering who would be the first to come back, me, you or Steve. Seeing as how all of us have owned 2 S2Ks in the past, and all three of us have moved on (again), I figured odds were high that at least one of us would come back. I thought it'd be Steve though, because he really doesn't need 4-doors and backseats like we do.

So, are you thinking of replacing the STi, or getting an S2K in addition to the STi? I will say, when I sold the hardtop and turbo from my last S2K I did enjoy that couple of weeks of just driving the car NA and top down. It felt so solid and worry free (I was always sweating something with my turbo). Don't get me wrong, I'm not replacing my IS-F for one... but I could see myself picking up another one as a weekend car sometime way down the road just to keep stock. I wouldn't be afraid of finding an AP1 and giving that a try since it'll be cheaper than any AP2 and I've never actually owned an AP1 before.

Maybe I'll be the first to get a 3rd S2000!

Considering I would want an 08/09, It would have to replace the STi. I would then pick up some used Civic or Accord to go along with it. We just don't use the STi that much as the family car. It's mostly the Pilot for that. We'll have to see what happens. My wife thinks I'm an absolute lunatic(which I am), so if she's not on board, it won't happen. The perfect plan would be to find a GPW 08/09, red interior, low miles, and bone stock. Considering they're so hard to find, that might be wishful thinking.

I really like the STi. And that's just it, "really like". I LOVED the S2000. I know that's where I belong.

My wife has always been a fan of the S2000. In fact, she was even more behind my getting my last one than I was. We had only talked about it, and she was the one who actually found it for sale. Pretty sweet considering she probably only rode in it a couple dozen times (we had our first kid something like 4-5 months after we got it). She'd be behind me getting another one as long as I got a good deal.

But yeah, you'll definitely be the first to number 3 I think. I've noticed that over time, my tastes in cars has changed. The S2K was perfect in my mid-20s when I wasn't married and had no kids. Now it wouldn't be anything more than a toy for me. I always talked about wanting to track my car, but never did it. If I were to get another one, it would ABSOLUTELY be a track car. If I didn't think I'd track it, I wouldn't buy it. That's another reason I'd be looking for something a little cheaper... less to worry about if I broke it.

By the way, if you find a clean 2008 in GPW with red, that would absolutely be the perfect car. My favorite look on the S2000 of all time. Be prepared to spend through the nose for one though... people who have those for sale know they've got something rare. I'm excited for you!

I know how you feel I'm on my third S. The S was my first car and every car I ever drove since never felt "right". I've had an 01, 08 CR, and now an 02. I like the AP1's better, like others have said it feels more raw to me and it's fun to ring it out to 9k . GL to you with your next purchase, loved your LBP when you had it.

You want the same car that I wanted, waited for and then bought. 2008 GPW, 6300 miles, OEM matching hardtop, red/black interior, OEM front lip and bone stock. It now has a K&N FIPK and about 14K miles but still, it's a very rare car to find.

There's a 2007 Imola Orange one here in Alberta (Canada) with OEM matching hardtop and full factory aero kit, for $34K asking price with only 10K miles on it. Absolutely perfect car. I almost bought it last year but couldn't come to a price agreement ($2K apart at the end). Considering it was $60K here in Canada, it's a good price. Just not as good for US buyers.

Top down on a mild night with clear skies really is something special.

My 2001 S2000 has 36000 miles EXACTLY as it sits in the garage right now and I think of getting rid of it in favor of a Cayman S. I really don't know what to do. I am a little bored with it and never though it was that great looking of a car, but with the SC it is a blast to drive, is paid for, and I don't really want to add a German sized car payment.

I was the same as you when I sold my MR2 turbo. I LOVED that car and even bought it back from the guy I sold it to when he sold it and drove it for another two years.

I am not sure I feel the same way about the S2000 as I did about the MR2, but when you LOVE a car, getting rid of it to just get something different just does not work.

Good luck to the OP in your search for the right car, and to everyone that has ever been in love with a vehicle, "Love the Beast" on netflix stream was one of the best recommendations anyone on this board ever made. Watch it and you will understand. It explains the "car guy" experience perfectly.
