I was really shooting for 2380lbs for my auto x car. I made it to 2460lbs. I still have full interior in cab and did not drilling of holes or cutting.

Gutted trunk area
sparco seats driver, passenger
No passenger air bag

hytech header
No radio
no speakers
RPf1 17x9.5 with 255 40 17 RS3's
no windshield wipers or motor or fluid containter
completely removed soft top and motors, topless all the time
All sound dedener removed.

get rid of the stock roll hoops and panels! that's another 25-30lbs. are you weighing the car itself or just weighing the parts you take on/off and extrapolating?

What autox class to you plan to compete in? I don't think some of those mods are legal in BSP, or even SSM.

What is the point? Not trying to be a smartass. I was happy to find out our track car makes enough power that we're not allowed to lose any additional weight with the weight/hp ratio that we're at.

There is an FP car and an XP car that are probably the lightest autox purpose built cars here. They both have threads documented. There are also weight reduction threads.

You really won't get down below 2450 ish for an STR car. SSM doesn't get any lighter than STR (due to power adders and bigger wheel / tire combinations).

The S2000 is not really the lightest chassis to work with. An MX5 or Elise is really the way to start with if you're going narrow / light.

Bumper beams are close to 40lbs IIRC. All the bumper/fender plastics are around 15lb.

AP1 STR car, 2605-2618 depending on scales at 1/2 tank of gas. As for what your doing... What class are you prepping for? Thoughs mods kick you way out of STR and even BSP for that matter.

Looking through his threads, looks like a local XP build without ever seeing what an National XP car looks like....

Kudos for experimenting, but a whole lotta pain for not a whole lotta benefit.

A poorly set up / driven NA XP car will be slower than a well set up / driven STR car (or RTR car for that matter). And for a whole lotta inconvenience.

From RobRob's quarter mile calculator:

http://robrobinette.com/et.htm

2400 pounds, 201 whp = 13.3 quarter mile

2000 pounds, 201 whp = 12.5 quarter mile

2200 pounds, 220 whp = 12.5 quarter mile

With driver:
2650 pounds, 201 whp = 13.8 quarter mile

Our SSM car with driver:
3000 pounds, 473 whp = 10.8 quarter mile

Collette's XP car (I don't remember exact specs):
2100 pounds, 300 whp = 11.1 quarter mile

This is all assuming big, sticky tires. Which we all use.
