Default Berk Technology's 63.5mm Test Pipe issue..

Tonight I was driving my car with my girlfriend going to see the fireworks show.. So I drove about 20 minutes on the interstate (didn't hit any bumps or anything out of the ordinary) and then got off at my exit.. As I pulled up to a red light and pushed my clutch down I noticed my car sounded louder than ever when the rpms started to drop..

My car has the stock catback on it so I was very bewildered when my car sounded like the mufflers had been deleted.. So anyways I'm driving along to the fireworks show with the radio off and I can hear a rattle coming from under the car, which annoyed me so much that I pulled over and looked under the car to see what was going on..

Upon inspection I notice that my test pipe has completely broken off at the welds from the back exhaust flange..

Has this happened to anybody before?? What did you do to fix it?? I want to get a new test pipe but berk isn't going to be open until the 7th and they have the best price on the test pipe + free shipping..

I'm thinking about getting it re-welded, but I really don't trust an exhaust shop to fix it.. And I really don't want to drive the car around with it sounding like a rice rocket for another 10 to 14 days while I'm waiting to get a new test pipe..

This is so annoying..

I would just have it fixed. Do you have any performance shops where you live (domestic or import). Generally, most performance shops have someone that can weld. That is a simple job though. I am sure most exhaust shops would be able to fix it.

Yea there's a Import tuner around here.. I'm going to swing over there on Wednesday and let him see if he can weld it back together..

It's just so random how it broke off so cleanly.. I wonder how long it was falling apart for before it actually let go at the weld..

Stock header?

It needs the flex pipe to absorb hard jolts

Bad motor mounts cause flex as well

Or just a bad weld

Mine cracked the welds in same spot as yours. Rewelded it and no problems since.

Damn, I just bought one of these during the November cyber week deals from Berk directly. Hope I don't have any issues. I plan to install mine once I get my S out of storage. How many miles do you have on yours?

It's a good product, I'm working with berk to get a replacement now.. They might be willing to cut me a deal, but if not ill just get mine welded to hold me over and order a new one..

I also have an Ingalls etd, so my engine shouldn't be moving around that badly.. I mean I did have this thing on the car for the past 40,000 miles..
